And it's not the c37/c57 cap. that's the puzzle. I've rebuilt this chassis completely. Even changed that particular cap for a spare to see if i had a dud. No luck.
Ian's kit, flyback, hot, voltage regulator, all done.

One thing that's unusual about the rebuilding is that i've used a cap to shrink the screen's width, the horizontal coil , like so many other out there, refused to budge. Only after i shrunk the width did the black line came into view.

what cap did you put in the C38? is the width coil seized?

I'm putting my money on bad solder joint, or lifted pad that you'll need to jumper. You got a full pic, something just isn't making proper connection. And it might not even be a pad you worked on, could be a completely different area that maybe was affected while handling the chassis. If you were missing a full side of the image, I would think component, but that is not the case here. That's where my money's at :)

A buddy and I were just talking about these K7000 chassis, how you always go in thinking it will be a quick and easy job, but something more always surfaces. Good luck!

security0001: Hard to say with the 19" type coil but it feel completely eroded inside. No grip at all. Someone before me must have struggled on it.
I've used a 474k metallized poly, put in parallel under the board. Screen is perfectly centered thanks to that mod.

I didn't know it was possible for a broken trace to lead to that black bar. Its good to know you've encountered that issue before , i'll do some reflow in the morning.
