Just FYI, for anyone who hasn't seen it. The fact that there's a story about this is more interesting than the story itself IMO, but it's still an ok read.

Stories about 'people keeping old stuff running' seem to be in vogue right now, and it all feels a little hipstery. See also the recent Motherboard pinball story:

Ive kept my pecker running for thirty plus years. Wheres my article?

The more and more articles like this, the better. Eventually someone will indeed start to making them again.

It would be interesting to see all the old arcade CRT's flood the market if someone starting making new ones again. lol

No one will make them again. The demand will never be there between the CRT FB group and KLOV. Still plenty of old TVs to hoard for the tubes..

I am growing a beard, ordering problem glasses and streaming the complete series of Portlandia all while sipping an iced Kombucha in anticipation of formally becoming a hipster.

Although.. won't we all be the ultimate hipsters because "we were totally into this before it became cool."

and.. hence the new shelving units in my garage and the circle of family and friends trained to call if they know anyone 'junking' a 13" or 19"... latest addition to the family just last weekend :)

Ahh crap. Does this mean I have to move to Brooklyn now?

I buy my town garbage guys a six foot wedge and some sodas a couple times a year. The TV's come to me now. [emoji4]

A wedge of what? That's got to be a regional thing.

It is, I know a few people upstate that call it that. We don't use it in this part of NY, but it's basically a hero/sub sandwich. Not sure which word you would use by you. It's like how some people call soda, pop. Pop is my father, not my beverage of choice. :D
