The biggest thing to look for is make sure all the racks are there and that the compressor works. If the compressor is shot you would be looking at $400 - $600 to replace it. I would say that $150 is a great price for this machine. Im not 100% positive but I think this is a bottle only machine. Some machines can be modded a little to take cans but not sure on this one. Just make sure you plug it in and let it run for about 30 minutes to make sure it gets real cold. If i were you Id go get it.

well thats the thing, no place to plug in :( since its at a storage unit. He got it in an estate sale. Same place I just got this asteroids deluxe. I also dont know if I can get it open, I tried for a split second and had no luck, might need to be drilled out.. Thanks for telling me how much the compressor is. thats the one thing that scares me.. I Dont want this to fully restore it, but I want it to clean it up and use it.

Even if the some of the insides are gone it wont be that hard or expensive to replace them. Its just the compressor thats really important. As far as the bottles go you can usually find them at the bigger grocery stores or possibly even Sams. Beer bottles will fit in the great tho. :) You could also check with a local bottling company. They can usually hook you up pretty good.

yeah, im not sure about taking the gamble since I cant plug it in before taking it.. idk what to do, theres a couple local machines for around 300. so worst case later on I am sure I can find one

If I were you Id find a machine that you really like that can vend both cans and bottles. I can do some looking but there is a machine that looks just like this one that can be easily fixed to vend cans. I just cant remember which one it is right now. I just bought a VMC 33 and it will only take the small 8oz bottles. Its a beautiful machine but the bottles can be a pain in the ass.....and expensive. Ive also got another machine for cans tho. If you want to do some reading go to www.soda-machines.com. There are also some other great sites out there.

My favorite machine is a Cavalier USS-64. This will do both bottles and cans and its just about the same size as the V-63. The V-63 will vend full sized bottles, water bottles, small gatorades. The machine is available in cans as well. A bottle machine has round holes a bottle will go through visible through the glass door. A can machine has flaps that cover each row when looking through the glass door.

Thats the one I was trying to think of. Im hoping to come accross one of these sometime. The one thing I dont like are the ones that have the woodgrain on the front. The funny thing about that is i collect cabarets and love the woodgrain on them. I guess if I found one though I could just change it to plain black.

I've got an extra USS-64 that needs the compressor replaced. Too bad you aren't closer.. I have a brand new one in the box that I never got around to installing. Otherwise, the machine is in great shape.

My gameroom machine is the V63, and it has the woodgrain door. I wasn't crazy about the woodgrain, but it does fit in next to the 7 arcade cabs.. It has grown on me and I wouldn't think of changing it out now.

alright well I worked a hell of a week. I talked to the guy with the machine, said I can pick it up by wednesday and bring it to my house to plug it in and see what happens. Heres my questions.

~I am sure the door is locked, the little bottle door is not however. Will I be able to tell if this is worth it from this point of view. Will I be able to tell if the compressor works.

~What else am I looking for here? I know its a lil dirty but seems really nice. I found a website with every replacement part. so I mean who knows.

If you are transporting the machine laying down, don't plug it in right away. General rules is it needs to stand up for as long as it was laying down to make sure all the oil returns back to the compressor. Check the power cord for any obvious problems. When you are ready, plug it in. You should hear a fan come on and the compressor. From the back of the machine, you should be able to see the fan and compressor. It'll be hard to tell if the compressor is working if its cold outside, but after 15 min or so you should feel a temp change when opening the bottle door area. If the machine is getting cold, you are home free. Drill out the lock on the door and open the machine up and look for the coin mech, then open the main door and check for shelves and other parts. I'll take some pictures of mine later today to show what it is supposed to look like.

Awesome thanks a lot. I did notice the power cord looked to be in great shape. I noticed because the asteroids I picked up was missing it lol

Also how heavy is this thing

I picked one off craigslist locally for $250 if I recall.
Mine lookjs like it vends any size glass bottle.

My compressor works (whoopie!)... now all I need is to get it into the garage for some restoration so I can move it to the kitchen.

My Sams and Costco here in Austin TX sells glass bottled cokes... maybe from mexico.
Barqs in Southern MS can still be bought in bottles.
hard yes... but they can be found.

holy crap 361 pounds.. :( i dont think this is a 2 person job..

I know it says 361 lbs, but I don't think its close to that. I move them all the time by myself. I have a good hand truck. When I load into the back of a pickup, I put a 2x10 a little bit taller than the machine between the tailgate and the machine. Tip the machine back against the wood, grab the bottom of the machine and slide it into the truck on its back. The wood helps protect the back of the machine a bit and also allows it to slide over the gap between tailgate and the bed of the truck. If you are going for a long ride, you can stand it back up in the truck, short ride, leave it laying down. A 2nd person is handy to lift into the truck.
