Anyone here own one or have owned one, know if anything else besides 8 oz coke bottles will work in this. Ive allready bought the machine at an auction and im picking it up tomorrow otherwise i would try. I allready looked around on the other coke collectors websites but didnt seem to see much there. I know this is kinda dumb, but I know the machine will get used alot if I do this, but what i was going to try and see is if the 8oz water bottles would work in it. Im sure I may just have to use trial and error but thought id go ahead and ask here cause i know some of you here know alot about these old coke machines.

I think this is the machine that if you remove the vending drum and take the back off it, it can be used with longnecks. Not 100% sure, but worth looking into.

You might be right. There was a short discussion over on one of the coke boards that started to talk about that and then the thread just ended. I think these boards have spoiled me cause you get good answers quick and on all the coke boards you may never get an answer. Thanks for the help. I had a feeling you would be the one to at least know a little something.

Well I havent got to totally try it out yet but it looks like a lot of the newer water bottles will work. Since the bottling companies not use the smaller caps it saves just enough room in there for them to fit without taking out the back plate. I need to put on a new cord cause the old one looks bad and then Ill know for sure. If that doesnt work them Im pulling out the back plate and putting beer bottles in there. :)

excellent!.. I have never owned one of those, so I'm not 100%. I've always been into the square top slant shelf machines.

Don't give up on the soda machine site.. I know one of the sites is fairly dead, but SMC is very active and the members are all pretty good about giving help, especially on the round top machines. If you don't get an answer, the thread may just have gotten buried. Give it a bump. There is only a handful of guys that know anything about the newer machines, but anything from Vendo, VMC, Cavalier, Westinghouse will get pretty good responses..

I signed up for SMC 4 days ago and still havent been approved so as of right now I cant even post anything. Been wanting to get on there cause you have to be a member to even search the site. Hopefully the admin. will get it into gear here real soon.

Registration should be instant as long as you use a valid email address. If you or anyone else runs into an issue getting into SMC, send me a pm with your username and email address and I'll get it fixed. We get a new spam registration on the site every few minutes, so thats why we have the registration set up the way it is.

I sent them a message yesterday and they must have got it cause i got conformation real quick.

The new water bottles are extremely thin and like to get stuck in the mechcanism. We like to use Dasani as a first choice and Chrystal Geyser as a second.Their bottles are the thickest and cause the least problems. We only stack 'em eight deep as they compress and jamming will occur. Nothing like having to buy a fifty dollar vend motor due to a 13 cent water bottle...

Yeah I dont think the water bottles are going to work out but i did find a cheaper solution. This machine uses 8 oz. bottles and will hold 39 with 8 or so in reserve. To fill up this machine its going to cost me somewhere around $60 or so. I found out that alot of people in this situation keep the bottles after they are done and then just refill them with 2 liter bottles and recap them. Go to a nearby home brew store and pick up a capper for about $15 and a bag of 100 caps for $4. When refilling make sure the soda is really cold cause it helps keep the carbonation down....cap ASAP and they should keep their carbonation for about 2 months or so.

Do you have a sam's club near you?

Ill be damned. I swear it was just a couple of weeks ago i looked and it was almost $26 for a case. Guess I need to get over there sometime soon.

Also, when you are at the homebrew store, get a bottling wand and have a look at a bottling bucket to get an idea how to make one. They use gravity and fill the bottles up from the bottom, causing less splash and foam.

Actually I found a valve that will screw staight on to a 2 liter bottle and got the rubber hose comming off of that. That way I can get the hose down to the bottom of the bottle so there will be no splashing at all. I can then put the 2 litter up on the shelf and use gravity to feed it. Should work like a charm.
