Vega - a space shooter by Olympia

All I know about it is on my web page below.
I would love to see video of the game. The one I found had a bootleg Galaga board in it.

I picked up a few marquees for it in a warehouse raid a while back, but there were no other parts around for it.

The interesting thing was that some of the marquees had a black "sun" and some of them had a "blue" sun. Looks like I didn't capture any of the blue "sun" marquees in this photo though ...

Thanks for the info guys. in this topic on Dragonslairfans.com you see a picture of a part of the actual cab I will check out this Saturday: http://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=1111.0

The marquee has the blue sun. I don't know if there is a game board in it, I sure hope so.

Saminva, your pics are great. It's the exact same cab, and I really love the side art.

Bye the way, the ric-o-chet is also a very rare cab. This one is in great condition and still working. Also one of the cabs I am interested in.

yeah eric, rescue the vega and the ricochet - they must NOT be destroyed. hopefully the snow won't hit germany (and belgium) too hard so that i can pick up the atari basketball - and of course meet you guys at the "play belgium exhibition"! looking forward to that.

ckong,

If and when you wind up with this, if you feel like the black "sun" marquee would look better on your machine or your marquee is just not very good shoot me a PM.

I will send you one for the cost of shipping to Germany only!

Its not like there is a high demand for these and I have about 10 of them ... LOL.

Great, thanks, very nice of you. Will be The Netherlands however, Superully is living in Germany, I'm a Dutch guy.

Unfortunatley we have to postpone our visit to the warehouse where the cab is due to the bad weather forecast this coming weekend in Germany and in The Netherlands. We now probably go a few weeks later.

wow
I see this thread has started some years ago. I picked up a VEGA last week but the CO is corrupted, one hole more...
SaminVA do you have yours for sale? Have someone board pics?

Now I have 3 cabs from Olympia; all of them have amazing side arts...

Do you have the original VEGA board? Does the game work or was it converted to another game?
I still have the control panel, coin door, monitor glass and I think I also have the coin box. Not sure if the control panels wiring harness is correct as it had a bootleg Galaga board installed when I got the game but I don't think the panel had been hacked. Joystick is a left right only which looks correct for the panel and it has an up and down button and I assume the red button is a fire button but cant tell if it's labled in my picture. I'll have to go take a look at the panel to see.
Are you restoring this game for your collection or for resale?
Lets see some pictures :)

Unfortunately the game has been converted so I have one extra hole on the CP, and the glass is missing; I don't know if it has some artwork or it is simply a plexi
Board is missing but probably I found one, once it will be here I'll check if it is the right game...

I want to restore it for my collection. I already have a monza gp by Olympia

and in the queue there is a caterpillar too :) . It is converted but I have the board.

Sense you are restoring it for you collection, if you need any of the VEGA parts that I saved you can have them as long as you pay for the shipping. I have never shipped anything to Italy but I'll bet it isn't cheap.
I have the control panel ,front monitor glass and I might still have the cardboard bezel as well as the coin door and coin box. The monitor glass has a black silk screened border.Let me know if you need any of it and I will try and pack it up to survive the trip and get a shipping quote.

What's the Scramble game? Is it just another Breakout knockoff or is it by chance that missing Vector game the hasn't been dumped for MAME yet? Also for that matter has Vega been dumped for MAME?

I need the Control Panel and the monitor glass. Actually I'm scared shipping costs for glass are too high (for extra dimensions) so if you don't mind I'd like you send me the control panel only... For shipping costs calculation please use one method with tracking number because italian post service is quite wild... :)

Is it ok paypal or you?

VEGA seems to be in MAME already.

Thank you so much,
Marco

Paypal will be fine but first I'll dig out the control panel and take some new pictures so you can see it's condition and if you want it I'll get it boxed up for shipping. If I remember correctly the panel is plastic so it should not be as heavy as a metal control panel. When it's ready I'll PM you for your shipping address and get a shipping quote. Maybe someone here has some experience on shipping to Italy and might know the best way to ship. I am thinking USPS would be the cheapest.

Great!
I usually receive from Usps service so I think that s ok.

looking at pictures you already posted CP is in great conditions for my standards but more pics are appreciated :)

This cab is quite rare and pictures are never enough!

Today I got a chance to dig the VEGA parts out of the garage. I didn't have time to clean the CP so it's got 13 years of garage dust and spider webs. Well I was wrong, the control panel is metal with an overlay and it looks like someone had replaced the joystick with a WICO so it looks like it has 4 extra holes to mount the joystick. The overlay had a lot of wear but should clean up a little. It still has the wiring harness connected between the control panel and coin door and the coin counters are their but very rusty. I also have the coin box, 2 brackets maybe for the coin box , the 2 plastic cabinet handles and what might be the original power supply. Not sure, maybe you would know by the picture. The game was converted to a Galaga.
I'll see how it cleans up. The monitor bezel is glass and I do have the cardboard monitor surround you could use as a pattern to make a new one. I'll post a few more pictures after I clean it up and if you feel you still want any of it just let me know.
