Vectrex arcade machine monitors 19"

The guy that makes these is on facebook, he has plans or a guide out there so you can make your own if you want instead of buying it outright. Someone on that Vectrex group also has larger overlays for sale occasionally.

Oh, man. This would be so cool in a cabaret type cab with a cart slot on the control panel and a slot for big gel overlays.

If anyone wants to know how to build one on their own pm me

Been watching several of your UTube vids today. Nice Job. One does a good job at describing the mods you made.

And nice arcade cabinet collection too ... :) (I like all the vectors grouped together ... don't want them mixing with the riff-raff-rasters).

Check this out too, it gives the a Vectrex 32bit 200mhz processor and allows you to program vector games in BASIC! That and putting it in an Asteroids cab would be the makings of a really cool custom vector game!

Not cheap though at $150:

I'm hoping someone will start making a repro Vectrex PCB already set up for arcade monitors or Asteroids cabs, getting actual Vectrex consoles is expensive as hell these days and I imagine will only get worse if doing these conversions catches on.

This is the same guy who put an original bubbles Marquee in a vice and snapped the edges off and broke it so it would fit in another cabinet. Guy is crazy.

about the bubbles marquee i didn't agree with doing that either but its what my boss wanted and he pays the bills

Oh ya, that would rock. I wonder if there is a source for replacement cart slots for console games (Atari 2600, Vectrex, Atari 5200) so you don't have to cut up an original console? I'm guessing no but that would be convenient. I'd also add a second controller, there are a few 2-player games (like Space Wars and Rip-Off) that would require a second joystick/buttons.

I would try to shape the cabinet like an actual vectrex - slight slope backwards like a Tempest cab, mostly black.

Yes, I've seen that, too. I am considering buying one. One thing I wish this had was an add-on for the mini-USB port (or some other connection) so that homebrew programmers could produce actual cartridges in order to sell games. As it is now, all you can get are downloads that are uploaded to this Vectrex 32bit thing from your computer. I prefer having a physical cart and box (and manual and overlay) for Vectrex games. But it would be pretty cool for an arcade Vectrex cabinet.

Oooh, that would be a great idea! So instead of ripping parts out of a cabinet or two, much easier to slide in a Vectrex PCB and have the old Asteroids or whatever run Vectrex games (slot in a multi-cart, I suppose, for convenience). You'd just have to add a couple analog joysticks to the control panel. I have to believe that a Vectrex isn't that complicated compared to arcade games, the whole thing could fit on one PCB, yes?

Well here's the main board, doesn't look too bad:

There is a second board, although that looks like it might just be for power and the monitor.
