Here's a few pics of the new Tempest and Asteroids I picked up this weekend. Still haven't done much investigating. But 'stroids does play blind. And someone replaced one of the fuses in the Tempest with a rolled up piece of aluminum foil so I didn't try plugging it in yet.

Someone took the coin-door from the Tempest (let me know if you have a spare!) and chopped the wires off. Not sure why they didn't just unplug the connector. You can't see it in the picture but the connector is just inside the door....so if I can find the right door I can just plug it back in.

I'll post more of what I find as I go if anyone wants me to.

Yeah get yourself some fuses do not turn that thing on if you value your house LOL.

I have a complete tempest coin door I would sell for 300.00 :D (hey you'll still be into the game cheap!)

The real question is...did you get them for the 50 bucks a piece?! Either way nice pick up.

Yes. I just didn't have the heart to dicker with him at that point so I paid full price.

I miss my Tempest.........

Me too. I bought 2 Tempests at the same time maybe 15 years ago. Fixed them both and sold one. Then sold the other one when someone offered me what I thought was a crazy amount of money at the time ($500 I think it was) and regretted it ever since. This is one of my favorite games so definitely a keeper!

Heh. Dork.

Ok, replaced fuses in Tempest and it was completely dead when I powered it on. But then I noticed the LED was lit on the main board but nothing else. No lights, sound, etc. Then I remembered the buttons don't light up unless there is a credit. But the coin-door is missing. So I threw it into free-play mode and tried again. Buttons lit up....played a blind game....sweet music to my ears.

So, some monitor diagnostics are in order for both machines. But first, gotta get a couple cap kits (and transistors). More to come.

Gotta love "no blow" fuses. :)
