If any of your monitors have burn-in!

In my addiction to Vectors recently I now have 5 vectors (Star Wars, Major Havoc, Quantum, Gravitar, and Space Duel) in my arcade which is heavy with the Blacklights.. I love the look of the blacklights and with the carpet it looks amazing, however there is one big problem...

Blacklights make the burn-in that's on a Vector monitor show through the glass, whether the game is turned on or not, and it's annoying!! Luckily some of my games don't have burn, but 2 of them do and when the game is playing you can see the burn plain as day.. so much that I have to turn off the blacklights in order to enjoy the game.

Has anyone else noticed this? I hate seeing the tempest burn show through on my Space duel, lol... And really, isn't the tempest burn the worst burn-in you can have on a vector? :)

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this...

The reason most monitors glow and show their burn-in is because the black light UV will illuminate the phosphor on the face of the tube, unless the tube is covered by a piece of plastic that blocks the UV. Glass will not block UV and therefore the glass bezel and mirror in the SI will allow the UV rays right onto the tube causing it to glow, even with the game off. This is one drawback of blacklights in game rooms unless you have at least a clear piece of plexi, or ideally a tinted piece of plexi over the monitor to prevent the gray + burn-in showing glow.

I put window tint on the glass bezel (don't put it on the art it will pull it off!) this was a big help. I had the same problem with my Space Invaders, it was the worst. I put Automotive tint over the monitor and now it's much better, not perfect but better. Good luck but remember be careful of your art on the bezel
