It will be a month or two before this is finished but I'm going to start posting the work-in-progress here. First of all, the game looked quite good when I received it:
I bought it not working so I knew it would need board and/or monitor work. However, upon closer inspection there was a problem with the cabinet too. There was one broken out corner (in the front where it was very visible) and the wood was crumbling and swollen. Someone had stuck the t-molding into the rotting mess using a bunch of wood glue:
My first thought was to bondo the corner but as I looked more closely I realized the back was also waterlogged and damaged. It had soaked up so much water the 3/4" board was now 1" thick:
And of course the base was similarly rotten. This is after I pulled off the two wooden sleds:
I decided to replace the base and rear and rebuild the corner, but as you'll see that's not how things went.
