Vector Pong prototype @CAX 2013...loaner cabinet needed!!!

I have a prototype vector version of Pong that I'd like to bring to CAX. It's a drop-in kit (PCB, CP, score panel) for an Asteroids Deluxe cabaret. I like to bring this to CAX, but I can't bring the entire cab with me. So I'm putting out the call for help:

Does anyone have a AD cabaret with a Wells V2000 that they can bring to CAX to make into a Vector Pong for the weekend? It would be really sweet to get this into vector row finally.

I put the request out on the CAX staff list and had a bite already!

A friend of another staffer was planning to bring his AD cabaret but it has board issues. He will confirm the monitor and power. If all the planets align, I will connect you with the cabinet owner.

Tom

I'll see about my friend's AD cabaret. As Tom said, it has a board issue currently, but my buddy has an extra boardset that he will hopefully be able to just drop in to confirm that everything else works fine.

Question: Does it have to be a V2000 monitor or will the G05-805 also be OK? I'm not sure which monitor is in his machine currently...but I can certainly ask, too, if necessary.

Jon

That's awesome, Jon. I have a separate power supply that I'm using...it plugs into the stock harness. But I do make use of the existing Audio/Regulator for the amplifier. If that works, and the monitor then I think it's all good.

Please do ask about the monitor. I don't know all of the differences between the V2000 and G05-805. Is it just a connector issue? Or are the power supplies and video signal levels different too? This _is_ a prototype work in progress, so a V2000 would be preferable from a "it just works" standpoint. But if someone has an adapter we can use then we can try the G05-805 too, if necessary.

It's a scratch built analog computer designed specifically as a 2-player pong game. No software at all. It's a pretty ugly build right now...I haven't had time to go and clean it up. But it works well.

They are functionally identical and drop-in replacements for one another. No signal or connector differences.

Hmmm....it's good to know that the 2 monitors are drop in replacements. Thanks.

I had thought about a sign already. I was going to try to have an art package done up, but there was just no time to do it. I may reuse the sign from when I showed the game at the Maker Faire.
