Vector/Other games available in S.Ga

FYI I got both Black Widows, Armor Attack, Skull and Crossbones and the Shuuz countertop. What a cool game, threw it up on the kitchen table fired it up and played a few rounds.

I drove down to meet the guy and see what was available. He was very nice and hospitable to me. In fact I was eye balling a couple of the cabs that were sold to you, he would not even budge and consider them available to anyone else, even standing in front of him with a pocket full of cash. You know what I ended up with? An empty no name generic cab, for free. Gonna MAME that. Oh, and 2 very expensive speeding tickets but that is another story.

I'm glad Greg IP blocked him. Serves him right. This isn't a government run site - It's McLemore's site. You screw him and others on his site, and you deserve to be blocked.

Yeah, it is his site and he really can do whatever he wants. I am not judge nor jury but getting only one side of the story because the power of the ban hammer seems unfair, to say the least. Banned after something like 9 posts, pretty much neutral and inoffensive posts at that, must be an internet record. This could have been one classic popcorn eating MJ thread, but for whatever reason this guy will never have a chance to tell his side. Wonder why??

Shuuz

Yes the Shuuz game is in a Merit countertop, the story goes it was a 1 off proto type Atari made for a arcade game show back in the day. It has a Merit cab sticker on the back but also has Atari stickers on the back and looks like to be a custom Atari Bezel with logo and all. The game is as new as if it just came off the line, new 13" rastor monitor and works perfect. I dont know what the other merit cabs look like but this one has wood grain sides, a Shuuz cp overlay, Shuuz bezel and gold t molding. I believe Pooka got it out of the Atari factory in Ireland when it closed, along with some other rare stuff. He did say he had a rather nice and complete collection of unused atari owners manuals and fliers that are for sale- like 200 plus of them that came from that factory. Im sure someone out there is looking for that mother load.

I'd be interested in more pics of the countertop.

Pooka btw is XY-Man - that's what he used to be known as on RGVAC and other forums. He appears to have changed his name since he's moved to the USA, although he always had many names anyway :D

If you can take more pix of that countertop - something is nagging me in the back of my mind about it - like I heard something about it back when he was living in the UK.

Cosmok123 sounds just like XY-man/Baz/Pooka himself, just from the way he is wording his posts and his turn of phrase 'calling a duck a duck'.

My background : i worked with XY/Baz/Pooka in 2000, i lived in with his collection of games for 4-5 months. It was 10 years ago, but i remember him pretty well, especialy how he deals with people, none of what i'm reading here surprises me.

I also remember the Shuuz countertop machine. I believe that the machine did come from the Atari Ireland factory, but it would be a stretch to call it a prototype. Shuuz was never sold in Europe (nobody here understands the game or concept of horseshoe throwing). I believe that Atari Ireland got a kit from the states, chucked it into a merit countertop case and put it on a test location. It didn't take off, so they didn't make their own run. It may have an atari ireland asset tag, and have atari stickers on the rear...

We all know that Atari game kits come with Atari serial stickers and labels for the rear of the machine, does sticking these onto a cabinet make it a proto? i think not.. Its an interesting novelty, but its not a prototype. Also, i never remember there being a crate with the machine...

I left baz/xy/pooka in Manchester in 2000 because he was so disorganised and unrealistic, dishonest and a terrible with deals, i did not want to be associated with him. I don't think I ever saw him again after that, maybe once. He owed me some money that he never paid up on, and lied about some other stuff i sold on commission for him, denying it. I was there mainly to help him start a museum, but it quickly became apparent that it would never happen from the way he went about things.

Someone asked earlier why he hasn't tried to sell machines in the UK if thats where he's saying they're sitting (did he? are they?).. its a good question.. maybe because there are so many people that have been burned by him he daren't try to sell them here? i don't know, but i bet he'd do well selling them here. He has his reasons for avoiding dealing with UK people, i don't know what they are, but its a shame that he had a great collection of games that could have made the start of a museum grouping... I don't know if they are still sitting here, i thought when he moved stateside he took everything with him, that would make the most sense as storage is very expensive here...

Anyway. It was a long time ago, and if XY you are reading this then Hi! no hard feelings eh? don't worry, i'm not coming after you for that money, it was waaay too long ago to worry about now! But its funny to see nothign has changed with you and how you conduct yourself :)

BTW, who if anyone got the Aztarac??

I inquired about the Aztarac too. It was sold to another KLOV that likely read this thread. If he wants to chime in, he will, otherwise, I will respect his privacy (and hope he notes I'm interested in it too).

cosmok123

ha thats funny, cosmok123 works for me and he is none of those things. I own a machine shop and I specialize in hight tolerance plastic injection molds. He is probably the most natural and most talented Tool/mold maker/CNC programer I have ever seen. He just likes to keep people guessing. He got the 2nd Black Widow from my buy. my web site www.blackdogmachinellc.net for you gun guys.

I sold this to him in 2003. It was in the factory Atari crate. I purchased it directly from Atari, when they closed. This was never in the UK or Ireland.

Atari made it for a trade show, as they were hoping that it would be a good piece for bar/tavern locations. It was a Merit unit, that was converted to Shuuz. The conversion was done by Atari, at the factory.

Here is the picture of the unit, in my warehouse (in Santa Clara, CA, USA).

Anymore hearsay?

right on scott! Im with ya! Thanks for clearing up the Shuuz game, I got it and it aint going no where but on my bar in my game room. Got 4 more games on the way from Baz via NAVL now.
The games I got from you (space duel, gravitar, Joust) are all tight and in my game room.

Well i stand very much corrected on the Shuuz machine... sorry for any confusion caused there to the new owner, i was talking from actual first hand experience - but this was over 10 years ago and obviously i'm getting it all wrong...

As for Cosmo, well i guess its unfortunate that the words and phrases he chose to use sounds just like the man himself!

But, caveat emptor. Even the crappiest lowlife can be dealt with in person, with cash, after you've inspected the games yourself - regardless of their rep. If you willingly enter into distance selling, then you have nothing but rep to rely on, and i'm just posting my experience, he's not a total lowlife, he's a funny guy, but he just has a very strange moral compass and like other characters in this scene they're often fun to chat to - but i wouldn't want to deal with some of them without a personal inspection of the goods myself :)

shipment here

FYI NAVL dropped off my 4 games I got from Baz, every thing is in order and working as described. Im getting some more odds and ends from him as well. The guy is and great to talk too, tons of good info in his head.

yes, found him nothing but helpfull.he shipped star castle guts to me and i got them yesterday.he gave me very good price for them with nice shipping.being in uk i got stung for customs but,it still very reasonable price all in.but,i would have had a bit of struggle on my hands here in uk for these parts.

currently have the harness installed and its all kosher.he didnt ship me a dirty mess of hacked wires,he shipped me a lovely harness that wasnt covered in black dust and grease and power supply that are in great shape with everything intact.

the monitor chassis is in what i can only describe as lovely condition.

hes also offered me other things at just shipping cost.

i aint sticking up for anyone,i am just a messenger delivering a message and i cant say anything negative about the guy.
:)

It seems silly to me to go after each other in this thread. If a buyer/seller is acting suspicious or people have bad experience / conflicting stories (multiple people with dibs on the same game), then they're doing a great service to all of us by flying the caveat emptor flag.

And then vouching for the person in question is also a service to us and appreciated.

But criticizing those who smelled their deals going sour or those who successfully got their game, is unnecessary.

For me, I like buying/selling/trading with straight shooters who's word means something. So, I'll steer clear.
Thanks everyone for the info.

But that's not the point...has he ripped anyone off? Why is he banned from here if he has not done that. We've had people sell broken stuff and junk and not ship here and they didn't get banned, that's what I don't understand.
