I doubt that very much playboy

Never doubt someone who comes on a forum vouching for someone with a total of nine (9) posts! LOL.

Best of luck Cosmok, so are you sending a wire transfer or a paypal gift as payment?

Yeah, not much of a talker or a forum junkie. Been refering to KLOV for years for information on arcades and pins. Only recently have signed up to join the crew of great people but decided to be outspoken about a subject tonight that i thought had some pretty ridiculous accusations about someone that i respect. It is true that i do not know of other peoples transaction history with pooka, nor do i care. I was just calling a duck a duck based on the info that i had and no one has actually lost money and it sounded like people were just pissed that they didnt get some pretty rare shit for cheap.

Not concerned with my deal at all. Havent been burned yet and dont expect to this time either. If you must know, i did an account to account wire transfer and navl will be there next week.

Hey-
What did you buy?

K

Or did he? Perhaps someone sends him a better offer before NAVL gets there? LOL.

I still don't see the benefit of anyone selling to someone and shipping a game when you have ready and willing buyers to come to your place with cash... Unless there's some other stuff going on. And from what's been posted here, any reasonable person would be very cautious and not so ready to take someone's word and send them cash... when you have other long standing members here telling you there's something fishy going on.

All I have to say is "good luck"...

Well, im not buying the high end stuff, im purchasing a few items for a fair price that i offered. So i can afford to lose out on this deal but i will be sure to post picks when my items arrive.

i'd really like to know what happened with mclemore as well.

hey, if pooka makes a verbal deal, he should stick with it. but he doesn't have to. welcome to craigslist 101.

he's been in this hobby a lot longer than i have from what i've heard, and i'm 13 years deep. does pooka have another board name?

not ready to judge yet, until someone chimes in that they sent money and pooka disappeared or pulled a bait and switch. would like to know why his IP was banned. has to be more than just backing out of a verbal deal. he answers his phone and disclosed his location in georgia on the phone.

still, use common sense no matter what. some people just don't have over a hundred grand in fake cashier's checks like i do proudly displayed on my work desk.

i mean, hard_arcade is still an active member after a history of ripping off dozens here, and on neo-geo, and on eBay...so how did pooka get the IP ban hammer so quick? dig dug pumped pooka up sooper fast.

I have the following if anyone is interested please call me on 912-592-7667

Various conditions from Working 100% to parts cabs. I can hold by arrangement until pickup.

...

Hi, LMK your # in the UK and I'll call you tomorrow or call me on 912-592-7667. I can supply everything you need as I have a cab without a board email direct to [email protected] Thanks Pooka

This started because Baz contacted me by email. He had seen my VAPS entry with some 'wants' on it. I've been contacted several times because of VAPS, and others have told me the same thing. It can work and adding to the census helps the community!. So if you haven't set up your VAPS entry yet.... [shameless plug for VAPS...]

wow, that shuuz countertop is pretty cool man...

'pretty cool'? I thought so, about the shuuz and other items...

I replied to his post on rgvac and he said I was the first to call him and had first crack at whatever I wanted. He said he needed to get the games out of storage, email pics and call me. I stayed on him for about 3 weeks and pics surfaced with multiple phone calls. He wouldnt gimme a price, kept telling me to make an offer. I offered $10k for 4 games and he accepted.

...

Then word circulates back to me that he is offering the games to other people. I called him about it and he denied it, said we still had a deal. Then when I tried to reconfirm with him my dates and he didnt reply. Then I found him posting these games for sale here. I emailed him about it and he said he did indeed get an offer more than mine and he was sorry.

...

I believe in Karma and one day he will get a healthy dose....

Sorry to hear it happened to you too.

See my story below...Baz makes deal, Baz "didn't reply", Baz breaks deal. Sounds sort of familiar, eh?

Also, your 4 games for $10k offer? I heard from someone else that also offered him about that for the same four games and thought they had the deal...

Thanks for the info, your story is right in line with my dealings with him, but I didn't get as far as you. Sounds like this guy really is a piece of work, and I don't care to buy from shitheads like this.

Likely a good policy in life... life is too short for this...

This place never fails to entertain. :)

Glad the forums can be of service!

Or did he? Perhaps someone sends him a better offer before NAVL gets there? LOL.

...

All I have to say is "good luck"...

Might be a good idea to hand-deliver payment at time of pickup...

i'd really like to know what happened with mclemore as well.

Should stick with a deal? I thought so.

Pissed off the wrong Super Moderator is my guess...

Not generally a great thing to do... though I tend to be pretty patient. I think some of you might remember someone's 'f*** mclemore' temper tantrum here and might notice that the author still has an account here.

Re: Baz.

Enough people have asked, and I shouldn't hide a warning to others…

He reneged on a 'done' deal, and needlessly wasted a bunch of my time and energy not only before he reneged but for days after he had planned to as well.

We negotiated a large package deal for 10 machines (mostly vectors), some test equipment and memorabilia. Many photos, many hours on the phone, many lists, many specifics. Part of the package I was buying was going to another collector. All the while Baz told me we were having exclusive negotiations because I was willing to do a large package deal, and not just '4 machines like others were interested in.' He mentioned that he was specifically ignoring voice and email from all others as a jumbo deal appealed to both him and his girlfriend.

After adding more and more to the package (the easy part) and negotiating on price (never as simple) we both said we had a 'done deal' ('done, absolutely' left his lips—I specifically made sure there was no ambiguity even though it meant asking him for some redundancy in conversation.). Since we had a 'done deal' he initiated the conversation about payment and shipping. He came back the next day and said one piece of test equipment was in worse shape then he expected (which sounded like an honest mistake), and he would give me a little adjustment. He never got around to saying what he had in mind, but that aspect was immaterial to the overall deal.

I encouraged him to post the remainder of his items on these forums (things not part of our deal), and he does so (thus this thread). One of his posts included a link to photos of a variety of items including a Tail Gunner. I follow up that it was part of a done deal already (unless he had two of them.)

All of a sudden I then can't reach him late this week while his wife/girlfriend kept telling me that he was out or working on a game or out running an errand and couldn't come to the phone and to call back in a little while—while in fact I timed a couple of my calls because I noticed he had logged onto the forums then. On one calls I could hear them both talking in the background before she came back to the phone and said he wasn't available. On two of the calls she says he has his hands on a machine he is repairing and can't come to the phone. When I follow that up with, "Really? Actually he is on his computer because I can see he is on the forums" she gets a little flustered.

Warning signs began to become more clear, especially as I learn some data points from other people. I post a mild 'be careful and pm me' msg here.

This morning I was able to confirm that he was ignoring me because he was trying to get a better price from someone else and apparently eventually did. Not only is he a snake, but also apparently conflict adverse (thus the ignoring).

I leave him a strategically composed voice mail message, and he responds by email confirming that he did a deal with someone else for more money. At the same time I learn from several other people that he did similar things to them (and I didn't know about Darrin!)

I respond to his email by emailing back stating that this was 'unfortunate' and amongst other things that "The bottom line is that you are not a man of your word, and that if that's the way it was going to be I wish you would have told me earlier instead of wasting more of my time and hiding while your girlfriend/wife tells me numerous times to just call back a little later, etc."

Meanwhile on the forums, posts begin asking for more information about my vague ('pm me' warning).

Bazil comes on the site and posts to the thread referring to the posts above: "Hi its me Pooka, real name Bazil. The message by mclemore is sour grapes because he missed out on the deal. Call me Baz/Pooka".

Pretty quickly after Bazil has a change of heart and deletes his own post.

He posts on another forum about our interactions that "Everyone knows there are 2 sides to every story...I have nothing to hide."

Since both he and others have invited the 'story', here it thus is. I'm done with this.

Very uncool: Reneging on your word and having no honor (and repeatedly, to multiple people).
Very uncool: Continuing to waste my time afterwards
Very uncool: Coming onto these forums and posting that this is simply about 'sour grapes'.

good to get the story. thank you.

not siding with him at all, because it's just plain dirty to make multiple deals, and it's not like 1 offer was PMd and 1 was by email. all offers seem to come via a phone call...but he is looking for top dollar for rare stuff. i'm sure he paid top dollar for some of those games as well when the economy was a lot stronger...

was it a good reason to IP block him? just comparing him to a certain Soft(Hard)Arcade member...

i have to agree, the whole "make an offer by phone" thing irked me. no tracking that way.

but he's not a thief. he's just treating his sales like craigslist, with an auction-by-phone. i don't play that game...you end up outbidding yourself.

He sounded OK to me, but I don't like hearing all of this.

He said that he's got a lot of stuff left in the UK that he's trying to get shipped over here to sell. I thought that was strange as there always seems to be a scarcity of arcade stuff in the UK. Maybe there are just more buyers here.

I edited Mclemor's story below and inserted Don Williams name in strategically with some other minor adjustments to provide what happened with Sundance. It's the same story in reverse. :)

This started because Don Williams contacted me

'pretty cool'? I thought so, about the Sundance...

Sorry, not trying to derail this conversation. I just thought it was interesting how many parallels there are.

Bottom line: Get the game in your grubby hands as quickly as you can or get the deal in writing (if you can). Otherwise you have no legal rights to the game. When you are talking about rare games it's dog-eat-dog out there.

I'm glad Greg IP blocked him. Serves him right. This isn't a government run site - It's McLemore's site. You screw him and others on his site, and you deserve to be blocked.

Thanks Greg for saving us all a lot of time. If the guy wants an auction - and clearly he does - there is a site that is set up for it. It eliminates all of this BS and time wasting and broken promises and intense emotions. It's called EBay. Look it up, Dude.

Anyone who is a serious contender for these games will find them on a 10 day auction on eBay. Put em there and just announce the auctions here (and on the other forums)....done.

I don't see what he benefits by trying to run his own secret auction full of deception and lies. Is that going to net him more money? I just don't understand some people.....

I told someone I would buy a game on this very forum who has another thread on Buy/Sell. I asked for pics but said I would take it anyway, said it was mine. Somehow he sold it and won't even respond to a public PM.

Just saying this works both ways with other sellers on here as well but everyone is not jumping on them.

Not trying to play devil's advocate here, but things like this happen all the time. No one is saying anything in the other thread about what happened with me and another seller.

well i was doing a deal with him for star castle parts,i offered him £150 = $236 at the time,he told me,if i payed him $250 he would be more comfy.he said he would take pics of the insides of a star castle he had, tell him what parts i wanted, before he ripped them out to be sure i wanted them.

i sent him email saying that would be great if he could get me the pics, this way i could say "i want that and that"

no more heard.

now i came here couple days ago, finds hes ip banned via an earlier post and basicly warning bells ring out.

also, yes, cabs are worth more here in uk,they will sell fast and go for top dosh,so exporting from here in uk to usa dont make sense seeing as half of the collectors here are tight arsed!
:D

Got some Baz games

I had a deal with Baz, I made him a fair offer for 5 of his games and he took it. I made a deposit to him, NAVL showed up and got 4 of the games last week and 1 came today via UPS (the Shuuz game in crate). I dont know about that huge package deal that went south but my deal went down as planned and the games are tight. Talked on the phone a few times with him, hes knows his stuff. Id buy from him again anytime.
FYI I got both Black Widows, Armor Attack, Skull and Crossbones and the Shuuz countertop. What a cool game, threw it up on the kitchen table fired it up and played a few rounds.

and i bought and he shipped to me the star castle bits i was after.

they are in customs as we speak (or so usps says) he was good enough to part out a cab,box and get shipping price and ship them to me.

i will hopefully have them later this week.

can update the post with the condition of the items i bought once i install them but, buying the parts here would have been nigh on imposssible or even more expensive.

he seems alright to converse with by email.
:)
