Found an Asteroids deluxe listed for $225 but the monitor apparently needs to be replaced. How much am I lookn at to replace one? How hard is it going to be to find one.

So it either has no monitor..or the one in it has a broken neck? Sometimes seemingly dead monitors can be revived if they are not physically broken. A used working replacement will cost you around 250 dollars. A cap kit and fixing what you have.. way cheaper.

Too many variables to say how hard it will be to find. From what I've seen though, the monitor accounts for a good portion of the price. IMO, unless EVREYTHING ELSE was mint condition, no deal.

That being said, it really depends whats wrong with the monitor. If it's all intact, and the tube isn't burned up, it still may be worth your while, as long as you can either a. repair the monitor boards yourself, or b. justify the expense on having them repaired.

For my money, if the game played blind, and the tube wasn't burned, I'd buy it, regardless of the cabinets condition. As long as it was complete.

I think kalamath's buddy jpk0652 is selling vector monitors for like $150 shipped. Good price.

You won't ever get your shit, or your money back, but it's a good price.

Most likely the monitor needs to be rebuilt. I have heard many stories about dead vector game monitors and people not wanting to do the time to rebuild them or the repair guy they got is just to lazy or stupid to try to fix it. Or my favorite story was one some told on here about a repair guy who told the person the monitor was no good and needed to be replaced. Then he took/ stole the monitor from the game and took it with him while the person thought he was disposing of it.

Yeah… If it has a monitor with an intact tube, get it, you can almost certainly fix it. If it has no monitor or the tube has lost its vacuum, pass or negotiate way down… Like $75.

Who says he's my buddy? I bought a game from the guy, and he seemed nice enough, but I only met him the one time. That's a bit premature to call someone "his buddy". Try not to associate me with someone who is totally on the KLOV shit list due to bad sales right now.
