Okay, so I am going to be putting together a Vector Mame cabinet in hopefully near future. I'd like to do it with a single control panel that covers most (but not all) games. Right now, I don't think I have room for a spinner and trackball and Major Havoc roller. The spinner has to stay since too many games use it. So it comes down to:

- install a trackball and use either it or the spinner for Major Havoc, or
- install a MH roller and miss out on playing Quantum (I don't think there is another trackball vector game...is there?)

What would you do?
Go for as accurate an experience on Major Havoc at the sacrifice of playing Quantum?
Or, sacrifice the MH experience so Quantum could be played?

Neither MH nor Quantum were games I played as a kid. I haven't played enough of either to know which I'd prefer, although they both look fun.

I play MH on my MAME cabinet with a trackball and it plays very well. So I would go with a trackball since you can also use it as a spinner for other games.

If your going through alll the work to build a ZECKTOR MAME why not build 2 control panels and swap via molex connector. If you don't you'll never be satisfied.

Or just rig the section of the panel that contains the trackball to be swappable for the MH controller....

I prefer Major Havoc to Quantum, so if your only choice is a roller or a trakball, I'd go with MH's roller.

But I like the idea of two swappable control panels... ultimately that sounds like the right answer.

personally I never liked MH. On the other hand Quantum is a great game IMO. Take into consideration that the MH roller is expensive and most MH conversions use a spinner rather than a roller and the answer is simple. Go with the spinner and trackball set up and you will still be able to play everything including MH.

I could see comming up with a CP with a hole for the largest component and build a mount/support system for the other devices to maintain that size. Then create a drop in MOLEX connection for the MH roller, a trackball and a spinner. A snap in component if you will. Like how a server fan connects via molex - same theory. However the SW yoke .... no way in hell. Too long and would require it's own CP. You could also make this a molex snap in though - but two CP's would for sure be needed. If I had money to burn I'd love to build one.
