Vector Garbage

What's that ginormous IDT chip? IO buffer? SRAM? I might have a use for that.
Perhaps a parallel accelerator (another processor)?
bidirectional level translator. they no longer make this chip but there is now a modern cross reference. this design is now a few years old and was only a development tool/proof of concept. but if wanted it could be used to to highjack an asteroids pcb for other uses. for example imagine an asteroids pcb that can play battlezone , omega race or vectrex games basically vecfever for an asteroids pcb. masteroids already does these things so there is no need to create 2 things that do the same thing.
the same basic design was used to make the ultimate vectrex multicart. this cart can halt the onboard CPU and take over the bus as its own emulated cpu as well. 1745023631397.png

I thought it was probably an IO buffer of some type.

I have a slow burn project or two that could use something like that. Right now I'm just using a discrete mosfet translator per IO for testing. It works perfectly but it quickly gets too big when you have a lot of signals to deal with.

And another original set of hardware not restored.

the harness was restored to its original condition so it can run my pcb AND his working original pcb. he just wanted the ability to play additional games with correct sounds.
that reminds me soon vector breakout will be added to the list

And that may be true in this one case.

But it is not true for the majority of your customers.

lol you seem to think the original pcb will just disappear. because of my pcbs people will use asteroids boards as frisbees or perhaps use them for traction to get out of the snow.

I really think everyone is giving Jason a lot of shit for no reason here. You have to understand most people do not have the skill set, tools, and experience to properly fix an original motherboard and don't want to pay someone to fix it because they can't afford it. If your option is to fix the original pcb for 300-400$ in some cases which isn't guaranteed it'll work forever or even an extended period of time or buy a new 100% compatible pcb that is guaranteed to work and gives you extra games I can see why people are buying these. It makes me laugh no one bats an eyelash about replacing an original power supply in a game like Donkey Kong but as soon as you start talking about the game pcb being replaced people get their panties in a bunch. People accept the fact it's very hard to repair the power supply and many parts are unobtainable so they think it's okay to replace it, we're getting there with ttl chips what do you think will happen when all the real NOS chips dry up? These kinds of products are going to be the future of our hobby whether you like it or not and I for one embrace this change.
