Just curious how the vector games look/play on the arcade legends machines, and would like to see pics and videos of actual gameplay on one of these. The arcade legends machine has a pretty good amount of vectors emulated on it also:

Battlezone
Black widow
Gravitar
Tempest
Red baron
Major havoc

Just to name a few.

I do realize they aren't going to be as good, but are they at least pleasant to play and/or a good alternative?

May be a way for me to be happy until I can buy the actual vectors :)

they are acceptable. They are not any where as good as you can imagine. I definitely play them on my buddy's ultracade when I go to his place.

What type of monitor is in it?

If it is a standard res CRT, that is way too low resolution for any of the lines to look decent.

If it is a LCD, those just look stupid with any classic games. Too dull and dim.

Not wanting to start a war here, but IMHO higher res CRT's can do a decent job of recreating vector games, depending on the emulation. You still wont get the brightness and contrast of a real XY monitor.

Remember B+W vector games had the highest resolution of any classic games. Look at how straight the lines on an Asteroids are. Compare that to the jaggy pixellated figures on the raster classics we all know and love.

Also 4 of those 6 games require pretty specialized controls to really get the correct feel for the game.

They totally suck!!! I love my machine there are tons of cool games on it, but I dont open any of the vector games, they look like ass!! All the williams games are good,!!

THe only way to play vector games on a CRT is with an NEC MultiSinc SB (Super Brite) monitor. Resolution is high enough where you do not get the jaggies, and you when you hit the button to enable the super brightness, the black stays black, and the colors kick in to TURBO brightness. I actually had a couple friends thinking it was an XY monitor. It really is THAT good. It is as close as you will ever get without actually having an XY.

It's not so much the monitor as it is the control schemes that screw those games up.
