So I want to put Vector Breakout on the second half of a Tempest single chip hack and I have the file for the Tempest side of things but I need to make a file for the Breakout side of things. The Roms are

vb_D1.bin D1 2716 6DE0
vb_E1.bin E1 2716 89E4
vb_F1.bin F1 2716 DB78
vb_H1.bin H1 2716 783B

vb_R1.bin R1 2716 F3C2

The single chip hack for tempest has you write the last 4 rom files again and there are 4 blank spots missing from the same space on tempest. I suppose I need to duplicate some of these rom files but which ones and how many times. to I write H1 5 more times and then duplicate the last 4 images again mine H1 3 times and R1 one more time?

Has anybody already done this?

You do know that Clay Cowgill's VECTOR BREAKOUT code is copywrite (1999) and he's asked for people to stop using it without his permission?

OK well I am not planning on selling the files or the board they are on, The files are out in public domain so there is that. It is a shame that he produced a great game and isn't interested in producing more of the kits as I'm sure he could sell them.

OH and there was a guy that sold a board on eBay with all of these files tubes and breakout on one board not sure who that was.

I can respect this and will probably buy one of the kits when produced, I would love to have all the games on one device.

I will go no further with this and look for his work to be produced.

I have also been following Clay Cowgirls work and some of the promised stuff is still being developed forever or so it seems. I guess he is a busy guy.

Doesn't matter if you're selling it or not ... but I would agree, the individual selling it as a kit was more guilty than others. Be he ignorant to the infringement or not.

Respect the originator or not ... it's your call.
Email or PM Clay and see what he says ...

The term "public domain" refers to creative materials that are not protected by intellectual property laws such as copyright, trademark, or patent laws. The public owns these works, not an individual author or artist. Anyone can use a public domain work without obtaining permission, but no one can ever own it.

Copyright infringement is the use of works protected by copyright law without permission, infringing certain exclusive rights granted to the copyright holder, such as the right to reproduce, distribute, display or perform the protected work, or to make derivative works.

Dude you told me where to find these files to begin with.

LOL ... guilty. :001_ssuprised:
(But I own several CC Tempest kits, so theoretically, I have paid into the Copywrite and I'm an authorized user. At least that's what my lawyer, John Dowd, told me).

You might be correct about the Law.
As far as the Kits go, so would I if he would ever make some more and sell them to us collectors who want more than two games on the Tempest and are sic of TUBES.

Cross your fingers and hope he sells an enhanced TEMPEST MG version in 2018. I'm sure they'll be as popular as JROK boards. (But let's not talk about those ROM images either ... LOL). :001_sconfused:

FYI, Clay did recently say he was looking at making more in 2018 since he JUST sold out (IE. He was still selling the kit).

That's funny you say he just sold out as I have been fishing for one of these kits since 2011 and they aren't commercially available. If so Show ME Where. I read the post where he stated some info but again, where can I buy it?

Contact Clay and he'll explain it. I stated what Clay told me directly.

You know, I understand that people don't want their work stolen/copied/pirated after putting in effort and trying to protect possible revenue and praise.

But it's funny how some of you guys jump in and defend select 'members' of 'the community'.

How much original copyrighted ROM code floats around out there and is modified and sold by 'members' here?

It's hypocritical.
And funny.

If you're sick of Tempest, sell the game. :D

Didn't say I was sic of Tempest. First Game I Bought I will never sell.
Said I was sic of playing Tubes. I would rather just get better at Tempest. "not that Tubes isn't good in it's own right"

I sort of agree with this remark and kinda wish this thread would just disappear.

I will continue to look for the Tempest multi-Game and if it shows up then I will most certainly buy one. Until then I will continue along doing my thing at home enjoying the hobby as it was meant to be enjoyed fixing and playing as many games as I possibly can.
