vBulletin 4.0 released

vBulletin 4.0 started being sold today, and will be available soon.

In addition to the forum features, it now can include some content management functionality. I personally would have preferred that they focus on strengthening the forums and social networking functions (ala: ning, etc) instead of getting distracted with a content management system, but hopefully they worked on both instead of just adding cms.

It looks like upgrading to 4.x is likely to be the only viable option in the long run. Also, while upgrading to the forums-only 4.x is 'free', it is only temporarily and then we have to pay for the full upgrade anyway. They have changed their whole pricing system... The whole scheme seems to be a way to get more $ out of forum owners.

That doesn't mean we have to use the CMS features, nor does it mean that this system is moving to 4.x next month. I have no need to be the first guinea pig, nor can I with modules like iTrader installed.

Take a peak though...the User Interface is different...
