Alright so I finally got my avsp board in my ninja gaiden. Right away there are graphical issues lines through the screen no sound. I thought it might be the board so I opened up my street fighter 2 and put the board in there and viola screen issues were gone but there is still no sound otherwise looks good. Im wondering how in the heck do I get the sound working for this game the cart apears to have av plugs but I could not find anything like this in the cabinet. I would like to put the game in the ninja gaiden cab but the monitor issues are bad anyone might know how to rememdy this new screen anything. Another issue is the street fighter was set to free play and the coin mechs apparently are not working I also have to figure out how to this issue resolved. Please help a noob out

If it's CPS2 then there should be a test button on the side where you can go into the game settings and set the game to free play or for quarters. Some of these games have the sound off during attract mode, did you try playing the game? If the sound is off during attract mode you won't hear any sound until you actually start playing the game.

You might also want to check your cab to see if the speakers are connected.

Brilliant the game did have the sound off for attract mode. Any ideas why there would be issues with the ninja gaiden monitor maybe the harness is bad it looks like its be soldered and resoldered many times.

You can try the adjustments on the monitor to see if you canget rid of the lines. It may just be a problem with the brightness turned up too high.

I havent tried brightness but not even the characters show up on screen its just a background with broken graphics. Maybe the monitor is knackered. Ninja gaiden looks fine but avsp does not possibley a resolution issue?

If Ninja Gaiden looks fine in the cab but AvP doesn't I'd suspect low power supply voltage, not the monitor. Some boards require more power than others and the CPS2 boards seem to be power hogs.

If some of the games look fine but others don't then it can't be the monitor. If the graphics are broken then it could be an issue with the board. You should use a pencil eraser to throughly clean the card edge connector. If the problem persists then check for broken traces or anything else that looks out of the ordinary.

Edit: If the background graphics are fine then it sounds like something isn't working as it should. I would try reseating the chips. If that doesn't fix it then you might want to send your board off for repairs if all other suggestions have failed.

But the board runs perfectly in the street fighter cab no problem so I dont think its the gameboard as it works flawlessly in the SF2 cab. Maybe it is the psu Ill take pictures for you guys to see. When the board is in the ninja gaiden cab the image is staticy with white lines through the screen with various graphical issues. By the way thanx for all the info guys its appreciated very much.

You should buy yourself a Multi Meter if you don't already have one. You can use this to see what the voltage is on the PSU and see if this is problem. Just so we get all the details straight, is it your Ninja Gaiden cab that isn't working? SF2 cab works fine? Which board works in which cab?

Alright let me explain I have a working ninja gaiden its not dedicated it doesnt have the top fire sticks so I bought a cps2 a and b board becuase I wanted to convert it to avsp wich is way more badazz. Once hooked up avsp had graphic issues so I put it into my SF2 cab and bam works perfectly just as I remember from back in the day. I rehooked ninja gaiden board and it works fine no graphical issues. Really the only problem is that I dont want to put the game in my SF2 cab as I like this game. I dont have a multimeter but will get one I should probably buy a a better psu? I dont mind spending a bit as these games are part of my game room in progress. If it proves to be much more of an issue I just may buy a multigame board which has both games.

You need to get a meter and test the power output of the power supply in the Ninja Gaiden cab. You should be able to adjust the NG power supply and resolve the problem.
