Hi all,

I'd like to introduce myself briefly. The name is Stephen from NC and the hobby is video games. Here is my honest to goodness story as best I can tell it. I purchased numerous arcade machines between 2001-2004 to enjoy them for years with my family and friends. Those years have come and gone. They were all kept in a climate-controlled environment (HVAC unit inside a huge garage). However, the HVAC unit to the garage died in the last six (6) months and there is no money to repair/replace the unit.

I really don't want to sell my machines but feel the need to do so because I can't bear to see them all die over time from extreme heat/cold exposure. My intent here is to send my machines out to people that will truly be able to put them to good use and to take good care of them. Good idea for a CHRISTMAS item?? =)

*******************************************************************
I'll list what I have with prices and we'll see where that takes us. One note for everyone to see, so PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, is these units have all been tested and worked as of six months ago. I haven't checked since due to the extreme heat or cold. THe units will be sold AS-IS for this reason. With that said, here are the goods:

Cue Ball Wizard (1992 | Condition B | Sells for $1,000 OBO [Cue stick piece came loose once and was boltd back on...works fine otherwise.]
Wizard of Wor (1981) | Condition C | Sells for $500 OBO [Sound works but emits a high pitched humming if turned about say a three (3) on a scale of 1-10.]
X-MEN (1992) | Condition C+ [ Sells for $1,000 OBO [Scratches, some buttons are getting old]
Ultracade (2000) Condition A | Sells for $8,000 OBO [Purchased NEW back in the day; Includes all possible CD-addons at that time for a total of something like 84 games
*******************************************************************

[SHIPPING] Buyer needs to setup shipping to haul off the items.

I also have an air hockey table. I forget the name of it but have pictures of that one somewhere. I know it's not an arcade machine but I just don't have room for a 1,000lb monstrosity.

I do have pictures of all items for sale so just ask and I'll gladly share. E-mail address is [email protected]. Thank you again
for your time and patience reading my dissertation. =D

Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all,
Stephen

"As-Is"
"Worked 6 months ago but..."

$1,000.00 for a C+ Xmen
$8,000.00 for an Ultracade with 84 games.

Welcome to KLOV, and I wish you luck...

Let me help, I think maybe your keyboard has the numbers in the wrong position

Xmen, $300
Ultracade $800

Not trying to be harsh, just realistic

No offense taken. I appreciate the honesty (and reality check.) I freely admit to not checking/knowing the value of my units at all. I just threw numbers out there as a starting point. Gotta start high to work low. I've found going the other way tends to not work too well for the seller.

All I'm saying is these machines are up for sale now and I really don't want to see them sit and rot so submit offers if you're really interested. Ridiculously high offers? I'll take that. Low ball offers? Sure, can't punish a guy for trying. Pick a number at random if you will. If you're sincerely interested in one of these machines, tell me. I won't promise to work any sort of deal under the sun, but I like to think of myself as a nice guy. Business savy? Now that's another story. :)

Updated Pricing

All,

To continue trying to rid myself of these machines, while finding them a good home, I'm willing to half the overall price and sell the entire lot of arcade machines (including one pinball machine) for $5,000 total.

Any takers? Please e-mail me and we can discuss.

lol

if you are reasonable with your prices, you might have some xmas money by christmas time 2012

in the meantime, try Craig's List. you'd fit in perfect there

I find it amazing no one has shown interest in these machines, aside from hecklers, as my lot contains an Ultracade. I'm sure it's not worth what I thought it was worth but they aren't a dime a dozen either. I expected at least a few low-ball offers but thus far nothing.

As ridiculous as I've been told I am with my pricing, please feel free to submit legitimate offers back to me and we can work from there.

Believe it or not, I'm not some random jerk trying to cheat people. My main passion is collecting video game consoles, not arcades, so this collection is something I'm truly trying to pass on to someone that will take good care of them. Think what you will and say what you will but that's my side of it.

Actually, they were a dime a dozen. Most of them ended up scrapped for
parts because they didn't make money and when the computers failed
they couldn't be replaced because all the add-ons were illegal and
are no longer obtainable.

Don't take the folks giving you a hard time about the pricing personally, especially if you've not kept up with the arcade collecting scene since you originally bought the machines.

The bottom kind of fell out of the arcade game market since then and the economy going south hasn't helped with the value on them.

Location and condition are two big factors in what you can get for the machines, unless it's something very rare and sought after by collectors.

As an example in my area, which is a small city with few collectors, those games might sell for around $100-$125 working. Half the price if there are problems with them. Never seen an ultracade locally, so no idea on those.

If you want the most you can get for them then put them on eBay at $1 . It will get ran up to exactly what the market will bear for the price in your area. That may backfire on you though and your games go for $50 each, but you'd know exactly what someone is willing to pay for the machine.

a good rule of thumb is to check ebay COMPLETED auctions listings to get a basic idea of what people are paying for things currently. value does vary based on location, but at least it gives you a realistic idea of what to expect.

xmen sold 3 times recently on ebay, twice for about $100, once for about $300.

ultracade sold twice on ebay recently, once for $400, and the other time for about $500.

hope this helps!

Personally, I think eBay has gone the way of the dodo and when it comes to protecting sellers... well, to be perfectly frank... if you're a seller--bend over.

However, it is a good litmus test to see what a game is worth but also remember people bidding are usually expecting to pay an additional $200-$300 on shipping.

So I think that $500 to $800 might be good on a CL ad. They just aren't worth that much here.

KLOVers are savvy buyers with an excellent pulse on what goes for what prices and where. Many of the collections here are in the 10s of games some are probably above 50 games or more. They're well aware of the value of these games to the KLOV community. You may tempt someone with them at a higher price on CL though. But in the 1000s of dollars they'll likely sit for a long time.
