Vaps

I thought it already showed how many Vaps members wanted a game and if any had some for sell?

It shows how many have and how many want - but not how many are selling.

But right now, if you click on the link to who has and who wants, it doesn't show you the list anymore. Might only be temporary with the upgrades....

You might have mentioned this eleswhere, but I didn't see it.

I'm sure it's a temporary thing while you do your updates, but when I visit a KLOV game page (I used Popeye) and I click on the "156 VAPS members own this game" and the "12 VAPS members currently want this game", I get the page but it shows "no listings".

It should work now. It does for me now. Not sure why it didn't work for you before. All it should done (at worse) was give you a 'page down today' message.

If it doesn't work for you please let me know.

Also, while we have all the links to the Ebay auctions for those titles people look up, why not have something that says "VAPS members are currently selling 4 games and 2 boards for this title" or "No VAPS members are currently selling this title" or something like that, with visitors having the option of buying from us rather than Ebay or whatever? Maybe they'd need to register first in order to contact us, or it could just direct people to this forum so they can message us through the PM's so as to not clutter up the VAPS registry with tire kickers?

Easy to do... When I get some time I wanted to visit the whole 'sales' question. If someone has too many items for sale, does that make them a 'dealer'. Should dealers be marked any differently? Lots of issues...

It would be nice to have a Quantity option when adding items to the list.

For example, I have 4 Jungle King boards, 3 Popeye Boards, etc... So I have to submit that information 7 times instead of just 2 times.

Another idea for you.

If I'm browsing KLOV, maybe you could have a button on there that says "Add This to my VAPS collection", if I'm logged in.

Adding Quantity to VAPS entries would create a decent amount of work for us so although it's a good idea, I think it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. There are more pressing issues (like fixing the KLOV/IAM submission/edit system). Please feel free to bring up the idea again in January when we will start looking at new things.

In the meantime, for your multiple boards, your options are (a) enter in them multiple times, or (b) simply put in the memo field that you 'have 4 of these boards'.

I did make a bunch of additions to VAPS today. Please refer to my post in the announcements section about it.

I like the added stuff to the KLOV pages about how many members are selling game or boards. Now, if only you could make it so that clicking that link only showed you who was selling and not every single person who has a game or board registered...

You don't need to add another field to the table. Just take the qty entered, loop from 1 to x adding the same info that many times. Probably take you 10 minutes* to implement.

* - Minutes are in Programmer Minutes, therefore could be hours or days. :D

This was just done. If you are logged into the site and you are browsing the database, you will see a link hiding at the bottom left corner of the page (scroll down) labeled something like "Add Galaga to Your VAPS Profile".

For example (if you are already logged onto www.klov.com):
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7881

or if you are logged onto arcade-museum.com:
http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7881

Another idea for you.

Apparently, you can't do this unless you are logged into VAPS as well.

1) I was logged in here, and opened another tab and went to KLOV, did a search for Q*Bert (which I just got today) and didn't see the link at the bottom left.
2) Went back to the KLOV main page and logged in.
3) Went back to the Q*Bert page and found the link at the bottom to "Add Q*Bert to my VAPS profile".
4) Clicked the link and it took me to the VAPS log-in page.
5) I logged in and it took me to my Profile setting page.
6) Went to my "Your Games" page, and Q*Bert was not in the "Add Game" boxes, nor was it in my list.
7) Left the VAPS tab open with myself logged in, and opened a new tab and went to KLOV where I was still logged in.
8) Went to the Q*Bert page and found the link again.
9) Clicked the link and it went to my VAPS "Your Games" page with Q*Bert in the "Add Games" field so I could edit the condition etc and click "Add Game Entry".

So - you have to be logged in to both KLOV and VAPS at the same time in order for that feature to work...

After some experimentation, I've found that this only works correctly if you are logged into www.arcade-museum.com. If you are logged into www.klov.com and try to do this, it takes you to the www.arcade-museum.com login page, and then you have to log on again and start over....

You've touched upon something that is a bigger issue...

Your observation goes to a basic problem:

There are two sites (obviously) right now: klov.com and arcade-museum.com.

KLOV has a great name, history, following, nice short domain name, etc. But the name really doesn't match an expanded offering like EM games, pinball, etc. The expanded offering are one of a few reasons the arcade-museum.com site exists (also other non-KLOV things are coming).

Having two sites creates problems including (1) cookie problems like what you experienced above, and (2) serious SEO issues. The split site causes less traffic to go to one site and duplicate content and other things that don't encourage high ranking of klov/arcade-museum search results.

I'm going to double-post (ohhh) this msg into a new thread to keep this one just a VAPS related thread.

So if you are responding to this post and it isn't about VAPS, please do it in the other thread.
