So this is a thread for coming up with new ideas and stuff for the vectrex.
I know there's serious homebrewers around so thank you 🙏The dude who wrote that piece at the end of yasi? THATS A JAM ☝️i bought that JUST for that track.
Is anyone writing music with it/for it? Maybe you should :) like why isn't there a jukebox game and play songs people wrote for it and maybe have cool patterns and stuff to look at on screen.

Whomever is writing any new games, THANK YOU, and thank you especially for anyone writing in for peripherals because they will never not be AMAZING. I got new 3D games a few years back and even had the option of being a cheap mf and only buying board without carts game? ,👏👏👏👏even that I itself is a brilliant idea.

But even without, the absolutely amazing 3d imagery and the absolutely necessary light pen, alone by itself it's a still a VECTREX. It's named after its own display..why isn't there a bunch of crazy display stuff when there is actually tiny channels built in, that invite you to put stuff on your screen.

You can put a barrier strip up, and interlace for it.
You can put a lenticular LENS on it and REALLY pdo some crazy interlacing for it (and it would become an auto stereoscopic display in the process).

I was making color wheels, and I understand why an alternative color scheme wouldn't work with the way a wheel is segmented for RGB but THATS THE POINT.
I want weirdo stuff.
Can you set the headset to spin super slow and use it like a viewmaster or a magic latern-ish way..
It should totally have some well being, light therapy thing for it, you can even just make regular solid color overlay and it could be at whatever frequencies you would like...

You can have lens arrays or just weird optical films
There is so much you can do and incorporate with it and into.

Vectrex is awesome.

I've always been fascinated by the optical tricks Midway and others did on old EM games, Space Invaders, Atari Video Pinball, etc...with the half-silvered mirrors and reflected images.

Using those as an inspiration, what if you made a cabinet enclosure for a Vectrex that incorporated some of those mechanics? You could build something to rotate overlays and other things onto the image.

1- Because the vectrex is already so perfectly designed that the cabinet that houses it ALREADY provides a little slots for me to put whatever interchangable overlay I want in it and I would NEVER EVER EVER LOCK MY VECTREX UP IN A BOX where I couldnt play it.

2- I see what your trying to do. I already got a guy who has me crawling around inside my cabinets remotely having me troubleshoot. And I'm up to the part where I have to remove the scary ass anode from the fucking tube and I don't have some shielded long ass screwdriver and when I made a joke to poke it with a stick we both went eh, not a bad alternative.👀dont worry. I'll be fixing every single one of my games

3- i come from 3D. I'm a stereographer and a holographer and an academic researcher and I joined this board for a reason, because I am writing my second white paper on 3d video game technologies and histories and I need the help of this community. I'll write an introduction post soon, but your cultural values are incredible here. I wouldn't last long on this board if I didn't already adopt them,

4- if I wanted to talk AT YOU in 3D, my best bet would be to hit you up with a little Michael Bach, gif below. I don't even need a specialty display to be honest, I'm just trying to find common ground and have something I can talk about with you guys :)

Wish I hadn't sold my Vectrex a couple years ago. I have thought about doing a cabaret arcade sized version of a Vectrex. Get a 19" B&W vector monitor, put it in an Atari cabaret cabinet, and pair it with something like a scopetrex board. For the overlays I was thinking that since they're all scanned it would be possible to emulate 'em with an LCD that's had its backlight removed placed in front of the monitor.
