Hello, I picked up a non working Vanguard up the other night. I got the G07 to work great and it has no burn on it. I had to rerun the power and wires, it had wires cut, and then the game came to life. I could get everything to work but sound. There is NO SOUND what so ever. Any idea where to start? Let me know. PEACE Bart

Check your -5 volts also. I don't remember for certain
if -5 is for all sound or just the voices but it needs to
be there.

If you find the audio amp and rub a finger (dry) on the pins or the touch the parts near the amp you should get some kind of noise. If so, then the amp is working and getting power. Then you need to look at the inputs to the amp. If not then you get out the volt meter and probe pins looking for some kind of voltage +5,+12,-5 something like that. The amp is a good place to start and will give you a good idea where to go from there.

I think, since there has been some wiring going on, there is no voltages at the amp.

Well the fix was way easier then I thought. I Hooked up a book shelf speaker after I realized the speaker wire was giving over 7 volts. Now I have sound, the speaker in the game is dead. Well thank you all and I am glad for and easy fix. PEACE Bart

I haven't looked at the schematic for the game... but look to see if there's a capacitor inline with the audio outputs. It's there to block the DC component of the signal and just let the audio through. If it goes bad then you'll get steady DC output on the speaker which can fry it.

Use your multimeter and test to see if the dip switches are working.

You probably have a broken/corroded contact on one of your dip switches. You may need to replace the dip switch bank. There is also a possibility that the logic chip that is reading the dips is bad, but less likely than a mechanical failure at the switch.

Vanguard is now working - Thank you channelmanic for the fantastic Knowledge. I would also like to thank Wiz for the stack of Partial board sets. Finally I would like to thank tofudrifter81 for showing me how to flip the screen. Thanks and Peace
