Just testing the waters here, it looks like I'm about to get a Boot Hill that needs a monitor as well as the backglass and I was wondering how much compatible monitors (23"?) typically go for? I guess the same monitors were also used in a lot of games of that period such as Atari Football and Super Bug, so hopefully they're not toooo tough to come by.

Depends on the condition and how bad you want one. I have 3 games with the 23" monitor and fortunately they all work. I'd pay $100-$150 for one in perfect working condition, $50-75 not working. - Barry

Really? $100-150? I'll just bet you'd buy one for that.

I've got one I was going to sell a while back, and I believe it was thought $250 for a nice working one with minimal burn was about right. This is like the 25" medium-res or the vector monitors. Not made by ANYONE anymore, so you're not going to find one cheap.

BTW - I think I still have one...

Hell... I couldn't give one away locally... I had a Video Pinball cab that was stripped before I got it. Finally found a home for it via CL.

You can never get rid of stuff locally. But when someone 8 states away REALLY needs one and will pay the shipping - it's gone....

The Sega Fonz uses a D23VP111 monitor.

I didn't think they'd get quite that high. They seem hard to come by and it seems easier to find a non working game to take it from than just the monitor by itself. I know it's not "original", but I've heard you can substutute a CRT TV with composite input if a monitor can't be found. I can't seem to find a 23" though, just 25's. - Barry

At least with a black and white game, you can cheat and shove a modern television set in there. Of course, the real monitor will look better, but still, it'll work.

Can't do that with vector.

If you can find a working one with a shitty tube( most are shitty these days) you can still buy new tubes. I just bought a replacement for a Sylvania M22VATP4 for my Death Race. The down side though is the tube alone is gonna cost you about $150

I've got a couple of ideas on how I might be able to "cheat" with a different monitor, I was thinking since it looks like it never uses the outside 1/4 of the screen I might be able to put in a 19" color and over-adjust the picture size to compensate, or maybe I could use a fresnel lens and adjust the size through the projection.
