I have always wondered, what was the need for some game company's to make such tall cabinets? All of my stand ups are a pretty standard height except for one that is taller than me and I am 6'2 tall. Perfect example here, check out the smash brothers size versus the size of the white cabinet, It's HUGE!!! I have seen this done allot with the 90's Midway cabinets.

So that they get noticed in a crowed arcade.

Keeps the marquee light from blinding you while playing?

Raises the screen and controls higher for larger (or perhaps more aged) players?

Helps stand out in a crowded arcade?

Seem like all valid reasons.

Duh. It's the 25" monitor. They didn't want to tilt it back like the other 19"ers (like Pac-Man) because that would make it stick out too far from the wall (like Golden Tee or Gauntlet), so they put it more upright, which made for a taller cabinet. Simple...

What are a few of the tallest cabs out there? (without additional toppers)
My Gauntlet Legends stands at 6' 10" (82").
