My wife is awesome...

Just before we are heading out to dinner for Valentines Day I get an alert on my phone that someone is giving away an Elevator Action on craigslist...

I quickly look it up and it appears to be in good shape. The ad states that the monitor does not work, however you can hear the game..

I email that guy and ask if he will hold it until after my dinner. I offer him $20.00...He agrees and right after leaving Morton's my beautiful wife and I drive about 20 minutes and pick it up.

To my surprise it is a cabaret model. I cannot find any information that a cabaret model was ever made of this game. The cabinet is in great shape.

I plugged it in when I got home and the monitor comes on, however everything is squished into about 4 inches. (Probably just needs a cap kit)

Not a bad deal for $20.00.

Anyone here know if Elevator Action was ever offered in a Cabaret Cabinet?

Chris

Comes with the Rare Door Bell Button :D

looks like a conversion to me. Although not a horrible one.

I can't tell.. Everything inside looks perfect... I found a flyer for the original game and can see the full size and a cocktail only...

I will probably recap the monitor and clean it up...

Anyone know where I can download the CPO graphics?

So, I have been doing some research and see that a cabaret version of Elevator Action was rumored to have been built. See the below info from Scott C.

Rumored to exists, but none found yet
-------------------------------------
- Atari Gravitar cabaret, not the euro cabinet (1982 and
shown in the Atari Gravitar promo commercial. Todd @
TNT stated he saw pics of these back in the day)*#
- Taito Lock-N-Chase*
- Taito Lunar Rescue*
- Taito Stratoviox*
- Taito Zoo Keeper*
- Taito Elevator Action*
- Nintendo Donkey Kong Jr. (1981)*#
- Centuri Swimmer*
- Centuri Gyruss*
- Centuri Route 66*
- Midway Tapper*
- Williams Moon Patrol (bezel can be seen on proto Robotron
& RGVACer saw a converted cabinet w/full size-art in a
warehouse)*

Scott C.

I have been looking at the monitor bezel on my cabinet and comparing it to the full size bezel. You can see that the Cabaret bezel was designed differently for the smaller size. It has different graphics from the full size cabinet.

Let me know what you think..

Interesting....looks cool, but there's an awful lot of empty space behind the bezel.Just looks unfinished. If it is an original cabaret..maybe it is a prototype? Or perhaps this is some sort of custom cab.

Chris and I are discussing that game, cabinet, etc. I am pretty sure that is a bootleg production game. Either way, they did a really nice job on it. Nice score!

That's awesome!

The only odd looking thing is the relationship between the bezel and the monitor. Looks like the bezel should have been more horizontal or the monitor should have been more vertical.

But man... it's sexy!

Awesome score...love that game....dont know what it more fun...shotting the lights to drop on guys heads or crushing them with the elevator LOL....for $20 you just cant go wrong....congrats

I'm looking at the marquee - looks like the marquee for an UR that's been cut down. You could probably verify this pretty easily.

Still, I think Elevator Action is a perfect game for a cabaret version. Neat little machine you've got!

(BTW, I firmly believe that the "correct" volume settings for Elevator Action are: normal volume for sound effects, quiet volume for music.)

I am sure it was not cut down to size.. The graphics are different on the sides and the top compared to the full size bezel... Even the inside portion of the bezel has a different color border (Red vs. Blue)

I am going to post some more pics shortly..

Here are the measurements of the cabinet and some inside pics..

Height -- 61"
Depth -- 26"
Width -- 22"

The only place I can see the Taito Logo is on the actual game boards...

Yup - you're right; it's different from the UR. But I was talking about the marquee, not the bezel. :D

It looks like it's in really good cosmetic shape. I'm jealous!
