I have been working on a Asteroids deluxe and have changed the caps on the main board, AR2 and the monitor w/ transistors kits from Bob Roberts. That cleared up a couple of issues but I have a couple of small issues.

Not all the time but every once in a while the top part (probably all, it is easier to see at the top where the score area is) of the picture will shift down and then back up about a eighth to a quarter inch a couple times then be fine again. Also there is like one line of pixels that look dead in the center of the screen running from the top to bottom where the second digit is when the attract mode shows the top scores. So if the top score was 27354, the line would be on the "7". Its like only one tiny row is out. Possibly one row next to the dead row might be a little brighter but it might be an optical illusion I cant tell.

When changing the caps I bumped the knob on the main board for the screen size and readjusted the height and width for the screen after it was back together. I also put my test probes on the main board and adjusted the 5 volt to 5.07 on the adjustment on the AR2 board. I read somewhere here that it should be between 5.05 and 5.10. I have not tried adjusting anything on the monitor, I thought I would ask here before I start messing with it. I am kind of new to monitors.
Thanks

Game board?

I have not seen this specifically, but have had lots of issues with Asteroids games that pointed back to the game board.

Test the voltages on the game board for the X and Y outs. Do a search on here, there are lots of threads about it.

Just something to check. There are two test lugs on the top of your board where you can measure the voltages. If you do it while the game is running, they will fluctuate.

My AD, and one I recently worked on both have that same issue. I think it's just part of the programming of the game.

Thanks, I was not to worried about that, the screen jumping is more of a concern. I have been going thru the searched posts and cant find anything exactly like my problem. I am going to replace the 2 big filters that dont come with the cap kit and check everything again. Hope someone else can chime in.
