Hi,

I just did a cap kit on my V2000 and when I fired it up it looked great. I let it run while I put the game back together and when I finished, the left half of the screen was gone, just a line running down the center that has brighter parts that move corrosponding with what should be on the left side.

What might cause this?

Any advice will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

Well I went out this morning and unplugged and re-plugged everything on the monitor, I have a full screen again, so that's good. Unfortunately it's "wavering" just like it was before I did the cap-kit. What's weird is that when I initially reinstalled it, it wasn't wavering at all, it was rock-solid. The whole image just sort of jitters back and forth a slight amount really quickly.

So I'm back to where I started anyway... At least the game can be played.

My guess is that one of the sockets that hold the bottle cap transistors on the frame has an issue or an associated wire or an associated header pin on the deflection board.

Yeah check the bottle cap transistors first missing half the screen tends to be this issue. Look to see that the wires on them are soldered on all the way my monitor in Asteroids Deluxe had this issue just turned out to need a wire resoldered on the transistor.

This happened on my beloved Battlezone not to long ago. Capped it out with new xsistors and still lost half the screen. But then it would come back sometimes when I would switch it back on. Started checking solder joints, reflowed the header pins and it turned out to be a cold solder joint on one of the wires going to the cap xsisitor on the metal frame. Haven't had a hint of the problem since.

Have you tried moving the wiring harness around slightly to see if it affects the screen? Use your own discretion on whether or not your confident with the insides of the monitor while it's on. Pretty sure its the frame mounted transistors though. Good luck!

I did reflow the pins when I capped it, and I did put the metal cover back on the HV. section.

It looks like I'm going to pull the monitor out again to address the jitter problem, so I'll definitely pay attention to the areas suggested when I have it out, particularly those bottle caps deals.

I appreciate the suggestions! Will update with what I find.
