USPS irritates me

Anything has to be better than FedEx. I ordered a 42" LCD tv online and received free shipping. I get a tracking # from FedEx, and follow it for a few days. One day it shows up "DELIVERED - CLICK HERE FOR SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION". So I click it, and it has a signature. Not MY signature, but some random person. I call FedEx, which is in another state. They immediately jump to "lets open a claim" which takes weeks and weeks and weeks. I simply ask to speak with my local terminal, which I was told cannot happen. So I dig around online and make 10 calls and eventually find my local FedEx terminal. I spoke to a VERY NICE lady there, who gives me the cell # of the driver who "Delivered" my tv. I call the cell, and the driver said he dropped my TV off at my local Wal Mart by mistake. He said WalMart had 3 large boxes delivered, and mine got dropped off by mistake. I call WalMart, and they tell me they have my TV, but only FedEx is allowed to pick it back up. I call driver back, and asked how he could let just ANYONE sign for and take my $900 tv. He said he usually lets the WalMart dock workers get in his truck and unload their stuff while he eats a sandwich. I told him that if he wanted to wear a FedEx uniform the next day, he will come to my WalMart and get MY tv. He got all pissy but around 8PM that night, I had my tv.

FedEx blows.

That sucks, good thing you got it back though, I called fed ex one night cause I had baseball tickets coming overnight and they WERE A DAY LATE.. luckily I was able to print em out since they were season tickets. But yea I called and was like whats the local fed ex phone number I need this package TONIGHT, i told her it was worth lots of money and MUST be there that day, she was like well sorry maybe tomorrow and I can not give you the phone number.. I flipped.. needless to say NEVER AGAIN fed ex overnight

I remember FedEx being on Fight Back With David Horowitz in the 80s over this exact same thing. The result: "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight" is NOT a guarantee. (Seriously, that was the conclusion)

So I'm eager to get home Saturday expecting a Jrok MW board. Nawwww......noooooo. Jrok had to be all responsible and send it signtaure required lol. Ok thanks James it's actually nice to know you care. Aww hell it's no big deal, my 14 year old will be there to sign for it on Monday. USPS doesn't even bother to make an attempt at delivering the package. You bastards! So yesterday morning I filled that little form out saying drop my shit without a signature (no worries I live in a nice neighborhood and the old people have no use for it) and dropped it in the mail box with the flag up. I go to get my mail last night and the little form is gone, there's mail in there and no package. I go into the house and my daughter says, "Nope no package." You gotta be kidding me???!!!!
Today I am taking half a day off today to get my kid to the optometrist. My mail arrives around 3:00pm. If that bastard doesn't drop me a package today I'm making a trip to the post office and chewing some major ass. While this may sound childish, I have had MAJOR problems with USPS in the past. What pisses me off the most is those workers get paid well and have benefits and alot of them act like teenagers working at a burger joint. Now the teeneagers I could understand. They aren't getting paid enough to care ;)

I never have problems with them until I make a claim, then it just takes forever. UPS on the other hand SUCKS!!! UPS SUCKS!

The post office is just like any other place of employment/business. There are the hard working people that bend over backwards and the douchbags that could care less. Its like that everywhere. Soon they're going to be closing 681 offices; then those postmasters who work like 1 hour a day and close over noon hour(when everyone NEEDS to go there to get stamps and mail stuff) will be out of a job or will have to go to a processing plant and actually work. Ha.

UPS or FedEx (especially) if you got like ground shipping with them, it doesn't matter if it's like 1 state away, they'll sit and beat their meat on the package for the full 5-7 days.

i'm gonna swear on this one. i fucking hate ups for this. i'll order shit ups, and let's say for example i ordered something today and the delivery date is estimated at next weds the 19th. if it shows up in the local warehouse center tomorrow or friday, it'll sit till weds till it gets delivered. fuck 'em. i order everything usps priority or express mail, and get it wicked fast.

Its funny how different everyone's experiences are with different carriers.
I have great luck with UPS - their hub is right down the street from me. Takes me 5 minutes to drop off a package, at upto 6:30 pm. Their ground times are great for anything east of the rockies for me. If its going west of there, i use USPS priority - its much less convenient- the post office is a good 20 minutes away (if there isn't traffic), and i'm always reluctant to leave packages on my front porch, as my mail doesn't usually run till around 2 pm or later. My regular postwoman is great, if my truck's there, she knocks on the door. Otherwise, she leaves me a slip.
Here recently, i had a package that was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday or Thursday. It hadn't arrived by Saturday, so i pm'ed the sender and asked if he could get me a tracking number. He did - they supposedly tried to deliver it on Wednesday, then took it back to the PO and left it. And, to make matters worse, my regular postwoman was on vacation that week. I know because i saw the guy drop my mail in the box both Wednesday and Thursday. He actually saw me, and rushed off. And, this moron didn't bother leaving me one of the little pink slips. So, i had to take the tracking number, schedule a redilivery so i could get the little pink notice, and then take that to the PO to get the package (since i wasn't home when they tried to redeliver). That's been my one real bad experience, which really wasn't that bad with USPS.
UPS works great for me, i can send stuff ground to Louisiana or Georgia, or Mississippi, and its there the next day. If its coming cross country though - and they say 6 or 7 days, you better believe it'll be that 6 or 7 days.
Fed ex ground - i've generally had good results with them - they did manage to take a package that i was supposed to get from Chicago, and route it through Olive branch (where my Fed ex packages go), from there to somewhere in Colorado, then back to Olive Branch, then to my house- that delivery was about a week later than it should've been. Needless to say the new seats for my firebird that only had about 40k miles on them when i bought them had closer to 45k by the time they made that trip. I attatched a thumbnail of the final tracking for that package. They were able to tell me where it was along the way, and even notified the driver of the situation, to be sure it got headed back the right diection.

I ship every small package via USPS and I think their service is great for the right articles, in fact even on large stuff like a 19" monitor, they were the cheapest to Europe.

My UPS driver is great but their policy of sitting on packages until they're due hacks me off.

For Express Mail/EMS packages in my area a van will ring your doorbell hours before the regular mailman will give you your mail. The earliest they came to my door was for some PCBs from Japan at 9:30 in the morning.

It's nice because I can get to try them out before I go to work!

And since it's a EMS package they will deliver 365 days a year! Had a package delivered on New Years Day before. Getting another batch of PCBs from Japan tomorrow via EMS. The PCB shops in Japan only use EMS, no airmail. At least they will know that it's very unlikely that the package will get cost via the EMS method.

i've gotta say, usps is way better than UPS. UPS used to be good, but i'd be willing to pay more to have them avoid sitting on my stuff, and get it quick like they used to be.

the mailmen in my area rock. 3 xmas's ago my mailman brought me a bunch of big packages on xmas morning that hadn't gotten delivered before. totally unexpected but cool. he got a nice tip that day.
