New guy here so please go easy.

I was reading the Joust resto thread and came across this comment "19" Daewoo TV (w/ compatible tube)"

I happen to be in position to acquire old televisions on a daily basis.

Every kind of size, make and model.

Is this tube swap a common practice?

What should I look for?

Is it worth the time?

These TV's are either thrown in a dumpster...smashed by kids or dismantled by local scrappers.

I would have no problem keeping my eyes open for Team KLOV.

Let me know what I will need to do.

In short, yes they are definitely usable. That link gameover posted shows what model and brand TV's we know of with compatible tubes, but there are surely more out there. Depending on how much work you want to do, you'll probably find more than what's on the list.

So then...

Is using one of them just as good as say buying a Wells-Gardner or is it just a cheap fix?

Thanks for taking the time with me on this, it's a shame to see them destroyed.

I have one now that's....

19" Orion TV1926A

this list says this one...

19" Orion TV1925A A48ACB32X
Horiz-3.5ohm
Vert - 9.5ohm
All black case. Built Feb 1996. TV has galvanized tube brackets

I wonder if it's the same because it's so close?

Do I have to take the cover off to get to more specs?

Tubes are no longer manufactured anywhere in the world. Using these old TV sets with no burn and minimal hours is the best option we have for replacements.

I took a little time with your list and the top half or so are CR23 compatable, I stopped there so I am not saying the others aren't any good. However, if you have ready access to old TV sets your best bet is to only grab the ones that are drop in matches. The work involved in those is pretty minimal and more people will be willing to try a swap if they only have to transfer the tubes.

Here is a link to the file I crossreferenced them with:

http://www.bkprecision.com/support/downloads/pdfs/CRT_Setup_Chart.pdf

The main reason to swap tubes is to get a burn free tube since old tubes were on for hours and burned in the images of whatever game was in the cab.

Check in the monitor repair threads. There have been several threads regarding successful tube swaps and a number of links to sites that detail the process.

Sorry that list is from--- www.junknet.net/donor-tvs

I was posting it in this thread just to keep everything on KLOV in case I had to reference one of them.

According to the list, those are the exact ones I need to find.

Sorry I made you do the cross referencing.

I will keep looking for the exact matches then.

That CRT setup chart.pdf is really detailed I will have to spent some time with it to figure out what the heck it all means....

I've swapped a dozen tubes into monitors in the past 9 months. Best Buy almost knows me by name now, I drop off so many TVs there :)

If you're willing to swap over the yoke, you can usually get a good picture every time. If you happen to get lucky and find a drop in replacement, you can keep the TV's yoke and use it with your chassis. Then you don't need to do any convergence.

My prized possession is the tube I found for my G07. I found a drop in replacement, and I now have a perfect, burn-free G07, with a complete deluxe kit on it. Now to find a cab to stick it in....

The Junknet list is mine, and once I get caught up - its gonna have a LOT more added to it soon! Also there's a tube-swap writeup I did that you can find in my sig - only thing I haven't written up yet is yoke-swapping...not much fun lol.

You can also access the tube-swap article right from the TV list if you want to.

Sorry for the noob question, but what's the big deal with the G07?

I tried this a few times and had issues with horizontal width. I read somewhere that this can be fixed by replacing a capacitor? Is there any more info on this? Thanks!

Yeah you change the horizontal width capacitor up or down to get it right, some websites sell a bag with different values so you can play with them to get it right.

Good info! Any more? Where might it be located on the board? Anyone have a link to purchasing some?

Thanks again!!
