RT is done with support for a bunch of their old games. Some of these games, Nicktoons Nitro, only used one card from what I can tell. That card is some ATI something or other. X1300? X1600? Doesnt matter...

I want to force newer cards on this game. I've done it in the past on Guitar Hero but dont recall how I did it since that was about 10 years ago. :)

Anyone else have experience with this?

If RT would open up the games to allow new graphics cards I guess this would be a non needed conversation. But that doesnt seem to be happening.

Curious when their cut off date for support is? I've got a good number of older RT games. Oldest is 2008 I believe. And several I know still need fixing and I'll stumble upon a bad graphics card, mother board, DIMM stick, I/O board, exc.

My guess would be 10ish years or so. I will say that RT has been WAY more accommodating than other manufactures. When I ran the route for a major theatre chain here in the US I would be in contact with RT a lot. I had over 200 F&F's and support for them was drying up. In a conversation with them I mentioned porting F&F to the Dell platform and within days I had a copy of F&F 3.0 in the mail! Now thats what I call support.

They still support some of the older games but you have to replace the computers and dongles to "update" them. Thats not cheap and not what some operators/collectors want to do. Many of us are more than capable of dealing with computer level problems so thats not an option for me.

Right now I just want to get Nicktoons to work on a newer graphics card. :)

Subscribing just to witness the wizardry.

I'm sure I can make an image. What computer are you using? I think nicktoons can use onboard video on dell740 if memory serves if you have the 740 that is.

Do any of the RAW Thrills games do any kind of hardware check on which specific X1300 or 1600? If so then you can just buy a used one from ebay for about 10-14 bucks. If it does check the video bios for anything, you can also use some of the ATI bios editing tools to clone the existing hardware ID off of an existing unit.

Back in those days we modded NVIDIA and ATI video cards all the time. Modern day cards have checks to prevent people from unlocking features on the die.

….success running Nicktoons nitro on snowcross 1.25 os and dell 740 onboard video or on a 730 card. Many other cards will work and as well as other computers I'm sure. No dongle needed either. Now to see if it'll work on more modern hp 705 g4

However I'm not sure if it's gonna default to a resolution that the crt will support or not . I don't use CRTs in these any more personally so no issue for me. Will need to test tho in my drift cab at some point .

Nicktoons and Guitar hero are both pretty easy as the OS isnt really that locked down to stop you loading in a new driver as thats your main issue.

With F&F games you need to get access to command prompt and install drivers (not via an installation program)

I used to do this to run different mainboards and then buy mainboards in bulk and then use that hardware for a couple of years and create my own installation disks.

For gfx cards it may just be easier to look at raw thrills change logs and look at the different gfx car hardware that has been supported and then and then find something still available if possible and re-install. I get it for nicktoons, thats just not possible!
