Has anyone tried using joystick leaf switch under buttons?

I'm considering attaching some import joystick leaf switches I got from Bob Roberts directly to the underside of some control panels (and use shims if I have to) like on the original Williams games like Joust, StarGate, and Robotron. So I was wondering if there is any real difference between joystick leaf switches and button leaf switches that would make this a problem.

Thanks.

Some pinball websites sell parts to make your own leaf switches. I don't see why they would not work unless they are too short. If too long, you could take them apart and cut them shorter.

a leaf switch is a contact. some have that extra metal piece to add back pressure.

use whatever works. i made some for a joust project. just get them shimmed to correct height.

also used a generic leaf switch on the coin release mechanism to make a simple credit button on a pinball. do it up.

BUT i really like the simplicity of the rolley leaf switch conversion they make for regular buttons. paradise arcade sells em. they work awesome for joust, defender, or games that need flutter firing.

As for the Rollie Leaf Switch Bracket. I was wondering if they hold the industry standard size leaf switches that most classics used. (I know that the CLASSX™ Leaf Switch Buttons from Groove Game Gear don't take industry standard size leaf switches).

Thanks.

I was oblivious there are industry standards for games.

the blades are 1 1/16inch from the center of the gold contact to the base where the blade inserts.

I'm quite impressed with the quality and ease of fit. No complaints for my needs.

didn't see this thread, darren.

i've used joystick buttons and leaf buttons both ways in williams games. they work fine. they are near identical to the wico leafs, except that if you use the button leaf in a joystick, you will need to trim the extra length of the leaf off.

i haven't done this in a different game, like atari, midway, etc, so i don't know how those would work...
