Hey all-
I have a MCR power supply adaptor lying around and a harness from a game, and I wanted to make a MCR test bench. On the power supply adaptor, it has a input for 12VAC, what is that used for?? (coin door lights/ audio?) Do I need that if I am just power up boards on a bench using this adaptor?

Must be one of tom's kits or the AS knockoff, as mine don't have the 12VAC in...

I believe Tom used the 12VAC to generate the 12V for the audio amp via a bridge and some filter caps, to isolate the audio from the switching noise on the digital 12V, since this is what the 'original' supply did... but this ends up letting 60/120hz noise through, so it isn't really a good idea.

Since you don't have the the 12VAC, just jumper the V.Audio to the normal +12.

The adaptor is Tom's (whizzesworkshop)...I wired up the bench this morning, and found out that I had a 12VAC transformer lying around, so I threw that on the test bench for fun. I didn't need it to make the PCB's boot up. Next step is the wiring for the audio......
Thanks for the input!
