A Tech friend once told me i can use a color monitor to replace a black and white monitor. I am fed up with the one in my space invaders. I have 3 dead Motorola xm501s and the one in the game is on the fritz. Honestly, have the worst luck with them.

I think all he said i need to do is just use the single B&W signal wire and run it to each RGB pin on the color chassis. Of course, sync and ground too. Sound Right?

I might be open to getting the motorola chassis fixed if anyone knows someone that is good, reputable and no to slow.

Thanks guys!

I am using a standard 19 color tv in mine with a composite input, it works great.

Here is a thread from a few years ago.

yeah this would be the easiest way to do it, I took the inquiry to mean color video game monitor though lol

I can probably fix your XM Series monitor(s). They are easy to work on as long as the needed parts can be found.
But I'm by no means fast. It will take several weeks if for no other reason than I will have to find and order parts.
I'm just saying that up front. But I do value rapid communication, so there's that.

As I read it, you have a total of four XM-501 monitors.
Are they all complete monitors including the CRT, frame, chassis box, and chassis PCB? Or is it just 1 complete monitor with multiple spare parts?

Please describe in detail all of the parts you have, and what is the status of each.....working, flaky, dead, unknown, etc.
I also need to know if it's a mix of 19" and 23" parts and if they are all the same type....you might have some 502's or 702's mixed in.
Last thing, if you have more than 1 CRT are they all 19VARP4 tubes? Or are there some other types mixed in? Look on the paper label on the tube itself.

Yes, I was talking about a standard video game monitor. A K4900 to be specific. I dont have any 19" TVs around.
Back to my original question please. Will it work?

I have a total of probably 10 or so B&W monitors. Most are complete. I don't do repairs myself, so I don't steal parts from other monitors to try and fix one. All of them are 19".
Just how rare are the B&W monitors getting? Maybe worth repairing?
Several weeks for a repair? Thats better then several months which i see a lot these days. I will round up all the B&W monitors I have and get back with you about repairs to them. Thanks, Lance
