Can you just use the DOS command...
Copy/b file1.bin+file2.bin target.bin

Where file1.bin and file2.bin are just copies of the same file?

I'm working on a Battlezone and 5 out of 8 ROMs were bad. I don't have many 2716 EPROMs but I have loads of 2732s.

From everything I've read online I think it should work no problem, but I just want to make sure. I get paranoid sometimes about simple things. :)

Thanks in advance, :beerchug:

Forget it... found 4 or 5 old threads about it. Should have used the search function a little sooner... :(

I think that board could have had either size roms on it but not sure what if any mods are needed to switch from one to the other.
I have plenty of 2716 in stock at a buck and a half each if you need some.

Heh... not sure why I thought it had to be different files to work. :)

And is it common for the old masked ROMs to go bad? The first BZ I fixed had 1 of 8 bad... I had 5 of 8 on this board... and there are 3 of 8 bad on another BZ board I tested last night.

I thought my old Needham PB-10 was acting up so I put a second one I just won on eBay in and got the same exact readings. Seems like an awful lot of bad ROMs.

If the uppermost address line on the 2732 is grounded you don't need to copy files. Just simply program the lower half of the EPROM with the code.

I don't have a BZ board here to check, but typically when a board is using 2716s then pin 21 is tied high (in which case you'd program the upper half of the 2732). Either way, it's always safe to just program both halves... that way you don't have to think about it.

This will put the same 2716 image in both the upper and lower halves of your 2732 eprom.

COPY/B 2716.bin + 2716.bin 2732.bin
