To add to my slight theory above, here's the admin of the "Poor Arcade And Collectors" group also supporting Travis, so 4/4 of the biggest groups, and lots of admins of little groups also making supportive posts about the guy. I just think it's weird because it's consistent, and nobody else really goes out of their way to offer shoutouts that much. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys are getting reached out to by him, offered discounts, free parts, or just plain paid off if Travis is desperate enough. And I'm not saying all these guys are in on it either, I'm sure some of them are just naive as hell/don't know and are only guilty of being a sucker for free shit and doing what he wants... I'm sure only SOME are guilty of turning a blind eye. Jared is a nice guy and I don't think he is on KLOV, and may not know.
Even if there's no conspiracy theory, it's still shitty. Even if you can't help but buy from him, don't give him a frickin' shoutout with a history like that. It's like,
we can all listen to Michael Jackson and think he's a changed man, heck even buy his album for yourself, but recommending him as an elementary school counselor should undoubtedly be permanently off of the table... juuuuuuust incase. And frankly I don't think they should be buying parts at all. But I get people buying parts. I do NOT get people knowing exactly what he's done putting him on a pedestal. Needing the parts makes sense, humans are selfish... the second part is kinda shady, because I know some of these guys know his history, and usually most arcade people are unforgiving bastards. For somebody to go out of there way enough to take the time to recommend somebody at all in public is something most people just don't do, and that's speaking of a person with no negative history. There are a ton of great Facebook sellers who never get any. Yet this guy is a mess, has a bad name, and he has people shouting him out all over the place. Not surprised he's offering them something or sweet talking the hell out of him. He's Facebook friends with most of the well known guys too, many defend him beyond being strangers, and they probably message.
Again, I get people being a little selfish or desperate and buying the parts quietly, but it's incredibly bizarre to me that guys well-known in the community are taking the time to give him extremely public shoutouts, especially when many of them know exactly what he did and the extent of everything, recommending it to other people even with the slightest chance of getting scammed, let alone identifying yourself with him, is bizarre and questionable.
It's hard enough to get a shoutout in the community at all let alone when you are one of the most notorious scammers in the community. Am I the only one baffled by this? A lot of these guys know exactly what he did. Whether it's not associating your name with a past scammer, not associating your name with a high-risk future scammer, not recommending all of your group members buy from a guy who may scam them, so on and so forth, it seems there are a million reasons to NOT offer him such support let alone leave him as a member of these groups, vs. none in support of doing that (unless compensation is involved of course), yet he remains and is highly recommended by people of power and status. Any other scammers are quietly and quickly banned, accosted by admins, and are quickly nipped in the bud. Hmmm...
Also I believe the people aforementioned are actually the distinguished owners of each group, rather than just admins, which would make sense if he's trying to reach out to people in high places
