Any one else have problems with UPS?

So in the past few days I have shipped 8 packages with UPS through paypal. I sent 3 packages out yesterday, two have shipping info, one still says it's been paid but not recieved. I call them and they tell me to call back in a few days and see if it got there...wtf?! I do a lot of field service work, I would love to tell my customers that!!

I could deal with that but today I sent a package out to the wrong address. Yeah it was my f-up but I was on the phone for UPS for 2.5 hours trying to get the address changed! WTF, how hard is it to change an address when it is all scanned?! The lady where I dropped off the package hung up on me, so frustrated!! Luckily for me I do have her boss's number and will be calling him tomorrow.

A caution to paypal users of UPS, I was told that they cannot change an address of they use paypal...Not sure if that is true, but that's what I was told

Rant off, feel a little better now

I stopped using UPS over a decade ago. I prefer Priority Mail through the USPS. Sometimes it's a little more expensive, but I have never had a problem.

UPS is really starting to suck, it seams every package I get from them is open in some way
I just got a package today and the end was open like somebody looked in side and said we cant steal that, the post office is the way to go.

I hear that. I understand I am the little guy with one package, but for customer serice to tell me that they have over 1000 packages and cannot help me, wtf?! It may only be $15 in shipping but it's my $15!

Never had a problem w/ usps. might be worth the extra dough...

I can't even count the number of packages they've delivered to my house that have been broken. It's like they have a drop-kicking machine at the local office or something.

And try getting an insurance claim resolved....

Yeah, after they took the liberty to send a package to an address I had not been living at for more than 4 years and mishandled some packages I am completely thru. Fed ex or usps seems to be the best, fed ex for big stuff which is cheap imo and usps for the other stuff which is a little more expensive but at least I know they pay a claim in 8 months.

A package of mine recently disappeared that was sent using USPS. If it had been sent UPS it would have been insured. It was a small enough dollar amount I just chalked it up as a loss. Gave the ebay seller pos feedback since he obviously sent it.

What's messed up is that the tracking info says the carrier left notice on my door at 7:30pm but went ahead and dropped the package off the next day? WTF why did he just drop it off the first day instead of leaving notice? I'm thinking the a hole forgot to drop the package off so he did a little CYA then chunked my package or something.

Just had a jeweler that ships ungodly expensive jewels and jewelry tell me that the only thing he uses is USPS, that they are by far the most reliable for overnight packages.

And that in the past when something has gone awry they can tell him EXACTLY where it was and get things fixed in a hurry.

I stopped using UPS when I ordered a bunch of stuff from newegg in like 2005 and the lady backed the truck up, opened the back door and LITERALLY kicked the boxes out of the truck then shuffle-scooted them up to the doorstep...and they really weren't that large or heavy, just some motherboards and a ATX case.

Furthermore, in college one of my roomies worked "Twilight" shift at the UPS sort facility in Maumee, OH..they literally do kick the boxes when sorting them.

I've had small issues with all of them, but nothing like UPS.

this so brings back memories of that movie the pet detective with jim carey were he is drop kicking the box and smashing it down the street

UPS is only concerened about speed. If they damage something or lose it, so what.
They will deny the claim as it was your fault that you did not pack it right and if you sue them or get them to take responsibility for a claim, they look at that as a deal that they saved more money paying a few claims instead of taking proper care of the package.
Also the heavier it is the more likly it will be damaged because they don't want to pick it up and move it but would rather slide or throw the boxes.
The way they sort packages and load trucks, it is amazing that anything makes it and the employees are under huge presure to do it faster, not better.

The post office is better as they seam to take better care of the packages during shipping but they have a bad habbit of just leaving stuff on peoples pourches and when they do leave a package, their tracking only states that it was delivered. They can scan the package and deliver it the wrong place and all they can say is it was delivered.
not when, where, by or to who..

It seams the post office looses more packages but ups will damage them.
they all suck.

If it's a verified address through paypal they shouldn't change it because the whole point of the verified address is that everyone knows where it's going. If it's NOT a verified address, then I could see them wanting some ID (so that a scammer can't call and have my packages re-routed to himself), but other than that, they're just being jerky.

Back when I worked for a medical device company, we did some work in co-operation with HP (before they spun off Agilent). Among other interesting things, we learned that one of their tests of packaging for a new device was to ship the thing UPS from coast-to-coast and back again a couple of times. Apparently, if it could survive that, it was going to work out OK.

I also remember a former boss telling me about his time at UPS. Apparently unloading the trucks is done at maximum speed - guys get into the truck and start throwing packages out the back as quick as they can. Fragile stickers be damned.

I always use USPS.Shortly after i moved into my current house i won a pcb off ebay,it was paid for by paypal and shipped ups. This was not my first delivery since i moved. After 2 weeks and no package i was pretty sure i'd never see it,then one day driving past my old house i spotted a package on the front porch.I just had to stop and see if it was mine, the house was still vacant, and sure as shit,it was mine. The shipping label had that address on it,i carefully peeled up the top label to reveal the first label with my current address on it.I dont know what their malfunction was but i'm glad it worked out in the end.

Update here

After numerous tries with UPS to intercept the package, I finally called paypal who I had used to ship the package.

I talked to a great customer service person who after listening to my rant called UPS with me. UPS has have to have the dumbest people working customer service...

Long story short, PayPal refunded me the 11.00 dollar intercept fee as well as the 16 dollar shipping charge.

I am pretty happy with the outcome

Yeah UPS delievered dokerts harness to my neighbor instead of me even though my address was on package and name too.

Well, that's new - you're the first person I've ever heard of getting anything useful out of PayPal (most folks seem to get the silent treatment from them).

Good going!
