I had a box of 4-5 non-working Punchout pcbs that I've acquired the past several years. I decided to finally send two boardsets in to Eldorado for repair.

Eldorado was real quick with the repair/swap, I was supposed to have the boards back in less than 10 days. Received UPS tracking number saying it should arrive on Monday the 20th. Evening of the 20th I remembered they were supposed to have arrived, looked around the house to see if any boxes came...nothing, looked outside...nothing. So I checked the tracking number, says it was delivered, "left at front door." I went out and did a more thorough search in front of my house, still nothing.

I had to wait 24 hours to start an investigation with UPS in order to see what happened to the box. It shows in the system as being delivered around 3:30pm, which is really early for our UPS driver. I suspect he delivered it to the wrong address, I highly doubt someone stole it off my front porch.

I'm just waiting to hear back on what they find. Kinda upsetting that I not only lost two boardsets, but also paid to have them repaired before they got lost. I guess I'll have to send another one in for repair if these don't turn up. I'm super bummed, hopefully something turns up though.

Does anyone know if the UPS trucks or computers are enabled with GPS? Maybe they could cross reference where the truck was exactly at that time to narrow down where it was actually delivered to. Or perhaps they could check the delivery before and after that one to see if the addresses are way off. Hope it works out for you.

I had a similar situation.
Ended up that the driver came back out, said he was never at my house. Walked 3 homes down and got my package.

Odd they're making you wait 24 hours. I get a lot of packages delivered and know the main drivers of each of the major couriers.

I was lucky. I sure hope you are too!

Yes. In fact, they even know when the driver is sitting in the seat via a sensor and how long it takes them to stop, get out of seat, deliver, and get back in truck and move on. Back when I was involved with them, they were toying with the idea of putting pedometers in the "boards" (which are the hand-sets they use for driver level package scanning and signing). Not sure if that went through. In short, UPS has a very good idea of what the drivers are doing and where and when. Whether they will share that is a different story. Hopefully they will.

This happened to me a few years ago where the tracking said "left at front door" and there was nothing there. The first thing I immediately thought to do is walk next door and check my neighbor's front door. Sure enough, there it was just sitting at the front doorstep. Check with your neighbors!

I would ask your neighbors.
I had a package delivered two doors down last week.
Thankfully my neighbors are honest and brought it over the next day.

Yeah if it's somebody close and you can find it surely to god they won't know what they are if they open the box. Sucks to lose something so precious as 2 Punch Out boards, though!

This has happened to me a few times and my packages were at other houses with the same address as mine but on different streets. Both the PO and UPS have done it.

Same as the others here, only it was pretty far down the street. The label had been creased on the second number so 1220 looked like 1120. I don't remember having to wait 24 hours. However, I was able to call right away because was home when it was supposedly delivered. Phoned right away and called BS on the delivery since I had been in my garage with the door open. I think the person I talked to was able to tell me where the package had been left. They know where the drivers are. She told me to head down to 1120 and there it was on the porch.

Good luck getting it back.

Side note: I don't get a ton of things from FedEx, but I can't remember if they have ever mis-delivered to me. Probably, but I distinctly remember UPS and USPS errors. FedEx has been more and more attractive because of price and service. I sent Iggy a full Pole Position powerbrick and harness (weight 26 lbs) in a large box. Dropped it at FedEx/Kinkos at 3pm, it was deliverd to him before 10 the next morning.

Well, after talking to the lady at my local UPS center, my driver (who wasn't working on the day it was "delivered") and the UPS center supervisor, it sounds like I just have to wait until after their lost prevention team has done their investigation to find out more. I guess they use the GPS tracking to determine where the package was last scanned and then talk to the driver to see what's up. Seems like a good process, just a little slow.

So, the conclusion to the story...

Short of it is that UPS is horrible.

A couple weeks after starting the trace on my package they closed my case without telling me, stating that it was delivered to my front door.

I then had them reopen the investigation. My driver came by a couple days later and had me sign an affidavit to the effect that I did not receive the package. I called every UPS number I could, but kept on being told that it was delivered to my house and that it must have been stolen from my porch.

I basically decided that the package was gone and that I'd probably have to file a police report and see if I could claim the loss with my homeowner's insurance.

Well, life got in the way, I went out the country for work a couple times and kinda just forgot about it. Until today, when I returned from a trip to find the box waiting for me.

Apparently, it was delivered to, or at least sent from, a business in Miamisburg, Ohio. They were kind enough to forward the box to me. I have no idea how it got there, nothing in the address is similar aside from the -burg at the end of the city name.

Anyways, just wanted to close the loop on this. Box arrived with the Punchout pcbs safely inside, it just took a couple extra months.

Holy cow, what a happy ending to a stressful story. I've been really lucky with packages, but have had mail lost / stolen. I finally broke down and rented a PO Box for delivery of all my packages and important mail. It has the added benefit of turning my home box into a "spam box" for snail mail that gets all the political ads, mailers, and trash. Plus, if I'm away for work I don't have to worry about a package getting delivered to my door and me not being there to pick it up. It's safe at the post office in my neighborhood.

Are you willing to part with any of your boards? I'm still on the hunt for one to finish my PO conversion.

Cheers,
Brad

That's so awesome of that business to forward your package. I would offer to repay them and/or send the office something nice in return, like a Mrs. Field's cookie tray or something.

I'd also contact UPS and show them proof they fucked up, big time :D
Matter of fact, since you can prove it was misdelivered, I'm sure they have a clause somewhere that says they owe you. If not total reimbursement/insurance (regardless that you ended up with the goods, not by their hands), than at least the shipping cost. I would call every person on up the line to the big wigs, and bitch to high heaven. They have GPS on their drivers and know every step they take, someone lied along the way - either the driver or a super - get 'em!

Glad it all worked out!

I totally agree with this. I would send them a gift basket or at least a thank you card.
Good to hear there are still honest people in the world.

I'll third this. [emoji3]

I plan on giving them a call later today to thank them and see if they can offer any additional info on how the box ended up in Ohio. I also plan on reimbursing them for the postage and provide some sort of thank you gift.

That crazy. I heard a story once around Christmas time . That the ups driver was delivering package s and a car was following them . Ups driver call the cops and the car got nail .

I missed this story in its original run a couple months ago. I live in a condo with a security door where only USPS can get inside (therefore I have most of my stuff shipped USPS here) ... my wife had some stuff delivered from UPS once and I think she was following the tracking and told me that a package was delivered, but they never buzzed me and it wasn't directly outside the lobby door. they instead kind of hid the box in the large bush directly next to it. I thought that was amusing.

never lost any packages here that I recall, except I ordered a car stereo from Best Buy that wasn't in stock at the store and it got lost around Christmas time a couple years ago, at UPS. the biggest problem we have with UPS is them either not buzzing, or they come here for a total of 2.9 seconds before I can answer the door OR they come at some weird time that neither my wife or I are home and then after like 2 attempts, then it goes to the big office. which is fairly inconvenient cause it's a little out of the way and then you have to putz around there for them to find your stuff.

I'm glad your issue was resolved. I would've probably broke things.
