My 'Pede Cabaret has almost as much 'stage presence' as the MC UR... Of course, MC is one of the shorter uprights. I love the nice 'upright' monitor orientation on the mini too.

But were the cabarets actually capable of holding their own, as far as earnings and play, BITD, on location, amongst the big dog cabs? How many were out there back then? AND, where?

My recollections of seeing/playing cabarets on location, BITD, are few...

In '81, the arcade I usually went to brought in an MC cabaret... Only because the owner couldn't get his hands on an upright. It got very little play.

The only other time I remember seeing cabarets on location was on the Indiana Turnpike, about mid '80s... BZ and a Gorf at two seperate reststops. I was able to play the BZ briefly... I thought, back then, it was much more playable than the UR...

Anyway... my BITD cabaret experiences were limited pretty much to Madison WI.

Any other, BITD/In the wild, cabaret recollections are welcome...

I've heard it thrown around that cabarets were more intended for bars and places like that with limited space. However, they would of course sell them to whomever had the cash. Can anyone who was 21+ BITD confirm if these things were in bars and if it was widespread? I never sat foot in a bar until I got my fake ID on my 18th birthday. That was 1989...

I wouldn't have known the difference back then... and my recollection of things back in that time frame are a little fuzzy

I wasn't 21+ back then; my parents, however, took me to bars while they got their drink on (and yes, they let me in). :D I remember seeing two cabarets BITD in bars: a Missile Command and a Pac-Man, circa 1982-1984. That was it - I never saw one outside of a bar.

Today, the reaction is almost universally the same when any non-collectors see mine: "What the hell are those?"

Interesting.

I've never seen one in the wild but i have a klax cabaret in my gameroom. Not sure of where it came from but both myself and my 4 year old daughter love it.
