I inherited three Star Wars cabs recently. I was able to put together one fully functional Star Wars out of the parts and I'm a very happy camper. I still have two cabs that are nonfunctional at this time and I'm trying to determine their current market value. One cab is 100% complete, but the monitor is broken at the very back and it looks replaceable. The other cab is complete but missing a monitor all together. One unit has been converted to Empire Strikes back with a functional board set and marquee to match and the other is Star Wars. Everything else is in very decent condition, side art looks great, flight yokes working and responsive. I have an individual who is willing to trade funtcional cabs for these units and I can't seem to find fair market pricing for these nonfunctional games. He is offering a fully functional Roadblasters with some screen burn in and the upper triggers need springs replaced, but he has several other games as well.
Any thoughts on the current value of my two nonfunctional Star Wars arcades?

Roadblasters for the SW cabs? What a crappy deal. Seriously crappy deal. If the cabinets are as nice as you say they are you can play your cards right, keep your eye out for a tube for one and a complete monitor for another one and make some money out of the deal. He knows it too.

As to what value to put to a cabinet ... well working SW cabs with a 6100 monitor tend to bring around $600-$800 depending on location. Speaking of you really should update your profile to show location. There's LOTS of people looking for a SW! Good luck and welcome!

hmmm, those yokes seem to fetch easily $100 alone on ebay. Add harnesses, boards, the art on the cab, etc.... I'd say a Star Wars arcade machine minus a monitor (which seems to dictate the majority of the price) would still pull $350-$425 depending on condition. The one with the working Empire kit would pull in quite a bit more, say maybe $800 without the monitor?

Unfortunately we live in Alaska, which makes shipping expensive. I wasn't in the market to sell the games, but rather to grow our collection in the garage with things we would enjoy playing with fair value trades. My current list includes a Demolition Man Pinball in perfect condition, Star Wars upright, Tron, R-Type (Grew up with this one and still haven't beaten it), a 60 in 1 Jamma vertical, single slot Neo Geo...thinking of trying that 108 multi cart in that one, and a 4 play NBA Maximum hang time. I have a nonfunctional Ninja Gaiden and a Two play NBA Jam that the monitor won't focus on and its a Z cab that does not have access to the back of it. I'm trying to work up the guts to pull the monitor, but I've never worked on those yet and I hear they can really pack a charge if you touch the wrong part. I'm hoping to find a focus adjustment on the back.

Shipping is obviously prohibitive. I would try and get the games working and sell them local if you can. If you can't the parts are worth good $$$ but I would not condone parting these out unless the cabinets are rotten.

Your NBA Jam cabinet focus issue could simply be the focus wire needs to be resoldered. Remove the rubber boot and ensure there's a solid conection to the flyback. If there is the flyback probably needs to be replaced.

As a desperation move you can throw the switch and put it in op mode. go into the monitor color screen and try adjusting the monitor there. I guess I've personally experienced where the previous owner tunred the drive pots up and the brightness which resulted in an unfocused screen. Doubt that's the issue though.

Alaska huh? Wow - who would've thought this phenomenal game let alone 3 would end up in one place lol. I say you do what makes you happy - but that Roadblasters deal is an insult ... just my .02

Agreed. A roadblasters for a couple Star wars cabs (one with Empire????) isn't quite right. It would only be right if they're garbage to you and the one working game with screen burn and button issues is not. Now, if it we're me and I had the spare Star Wars cabs that you speak of, and I really wanted that game, I'd offer the one without the Empire kit, and I'd keep the monitor.

Roadblasters show up all the time around Oregon here. Anywhere between $150 to $350. If it was pristine, that roadblasters would just barely scrap the value for your non-working Star Wars cab.

Thanks for the replies. I'm currently working this out with the guy and he has several other cabs. I made it clear to him that I know the value of the cabs and I don't think he likes that very much. My current offer is one of the Star Wars Cabs for a Roadblasters and a NFL Blitz 99 both in working order. That seems like a fair trade straight across if you consider the rarity of the Star Wars cab. He's attempting to convince me he had a Return of the Jedi he had to part out because he couldn't sell it and that told me two things. Why would you ever part out a fully functional cab such as this and he is attempting to convince me the Jedi is worth as much as the Star Wars which I know is incorrect. Thanks again for the input. Worst case I'll look at repairing these units and selling in working order. I can probably replace the monitor in at least one of them and still come out in better shape in the end.

or you can just sell him a complely empty SW cab (no flight controler either) for $120 and sell him the rest of the parts for alot of money or you will ebay them.
your both in alaska he wont be getting the parts cheap anywhere especially in alaska.

might make your orgional offer sound nice then too.

If you've already got one for yourself,
I'd keep the nicer of the two and repair it for resale...
The leftover cab I'd trade to him,
I think the Roadblasters + NFL Blitz if they're both working is actually worth much more than one of the Star Wars.

I think Star Wars project for NFL Blitz working is a fair trade, adding the R.B. is actually lopsided.

Also Star Wars is indeed worth more than an ROTJ.
Everyone wants a SW or ESB... many fewer want ROTJ.
And I believe it that ROTJ had to be parted out, its not that great of a game! :)

Honestly I said it above but I'll say it again, Project SW is fair straight across for the NFL Blitz if its a dedicated.

I want a SW bad, its near the top of my list... but no way in hell would I trade a Road Blasters and NFL Blitz for a dead Starwars if I had paid average market price. NFL Blitz on a good day is worth $300-400 in that ballpark, which is exactly what the Starwars is about worth.

He'll have another $300 or more to get that SW working, but you can find working ones in good shape for $600-$800 for a nice crisp one. Doesn't sound like your SW cabinet is absolutely mint other than the monitor missing.

Smart move. Sell another Star Wars if you get it working. Post it on eBay and watch it sell! Other the other cab I would hang onto just for the parts factor. Finding parts are spendy for these things! Don't be taken by your other party telling you that a ROTJ is worth more at all, nonesense! Good luck on whatever you decide to do!
