Hello. I recently won a mortal kombat 4 cabinet but it is only revision 2. i have been scouring google and klov to get info on how to upgrade to revision 3 and have been unsuccessful. I dont have the knowledge to do any rom burning or anything. Ideally I would like to purchase an upgrade kit. Can someone here point me in the right direction?

thanks

If it's just a matter of swapping a few proms i'm sure Steph @ hobbyroms.com can help you.

This is where MAWS comes in handy. You can look at the different revisions and see what chips are different.

Looks like the difference is U10 and U11. You'll need to replace 2 chips.

If you can get me the #s on those 2 chips that are under the labels I'll see if I have some that I can program for you.

channelmanic you are correct, to go from 2.1 to 3.0 is just a 2 eprom swap. Hes lucky it is 2.1 and not earlier because he would have to swap out most if not all of them. I belive the chip numbers for those eproms if im not mistaken is M27C160.

If it is, I have a few of 'em on hand, just not on the web site.

RJ

thanks for all the quick responses. i'm glad its a simple swap. this will be the first upgrading on an arcade I have done so hopefully I can do it right when i track down the 2 roms

i bought the roms needed from steph at hobbyroms and it was the easiest thing I have ever done. Thanks Klov! next up.... San francisco rush getting upgraded to rush the rock!
