Upgrading forum systems... Xenforo?

Xenforo is mobile friendly. Not sure what to tell you.

There are many backend issues with Tapatalk that we would rather not have to deal with in the long run. As it is, it is one of the speed bumps in the migration. If you chose not to come here, that is on you.

12 dollars a year and tapatalk is ad free, I don't see any adds at all what so ever. What I get in exchange is the ability to communicate with people Ive made commitments to at anytime, and its way easier to navigate the forum..

Here is exactly what I see differently than non tapatalk users

I can see a timeline, and find threads Ive participated in quickl.

The bottom and top of these photos is navigation, if I want to find for sale parts only, or list something..

And if I create a for sale I can snap a photo with my phone and grab the photo directly...
You can see the tab at the bottom to add this photo..

Its about as user friendly as you can get..

Also, no one EVER appreciates your giant ass picture links which is ALSO a Tapatalk problem. Reading your posts with inline Tapatalk images linked is not user friendly.

I don't understand the appeal of taptalk, I just use the form on mobile and it works great.

Actually I hate taptalk because of the (sometimes) constant popup "do you want to use taptalk blah blah"

I use Tapatalk all the time but I wouldn't cry if it went away. The app has only become less and less user friendly over time, and I frequently end up using KLOV through the mobile browser anyway. Yes, Tapatalk's image hosting is useful, but there are other ways. As long as Xenforo is mobile-friendly, I don't see the harm.

If looking at a repair or item for sale im sure its appreciated by someone, and Im one of them.

They are giant to you but to tapatalk users the standard screen on average is 5-6 inches. If its mobile friendly in the future which it isn't right now, then 1 save a dollar a month by ditching tapatalk..

If its not... all the more reason to steer clear of this place and its people who don't know what to tell me, but still tell me something anyway..

Currently, there are 19 people online using Tapatalk of the 190 people here. 10% is not a lot. Like I have written above, not coming here is on you.

Haha no equal opportunity for tapatalk users, and tombo likes tiny ones..

Got it... appreciate your feedback..

I've owned and administered forums for over 20 years now. Many with well over 100,000 registered members. I've run every forum software imaginable since the UltimateBB days right up to Xenforo. All of them have their inherit drawbacks but the Vbulletin Codebase since Kier left has been a trainwreck that needs to be removed from the internet for the safety of communities as a whole. Really, it's that bad.

Unfortunately we live in a time where social media really has hurt private forum communities and with that, innovation with forums has stagnated. Still, Xenforo with all of its limitations has all of their marbles in the bag. Vbulletin is a security mess, Wordpress integrated forums are riddled with bugs, PhpBB has stagnated and IPB has some of the worst SEO imaginable, costing admins thousands of dollars.

There is a vbulletin-ish theme for Xenforo available. That might at least ease people into getting more familiar with the platform. As long as you run a theme that is responsive, the tapatalk issue may not be a big deal. The theme should adjust based on your device; That just leaves the ads.

Tapatalk is probably the single worst mobile app I've ever used, short of actual malware. Good riddance.
