I just did my first tv tube swap. Found a $5 tv that had a 19" cr23 tube in it. The yoke readings didnt match a regular chassis, but I had a universal chassis sitting around and the specs worked out, so I put the two together.
So far so good, picture is nice and burn free, and no problem with the brightness or geometry.
I notice that 4 metal oxide resistors near the yoke header pins get really hot. I know people tend to think these chassis are just junk, but Ive seen some posts where people have upgraded to higher wattage resistors to prevent overheating and had some success.
Has anyone had experience with these chassis and done any mods to make them more reliable?
