This is not my game, I am trying to help a friend out. He has a time crisis 2 that until recently was working fine. It recently starting to not make it past the start up screen, it just sits on that screen without progressing further. I told him I was wondering if maybe the board wasn't getting enough voltage, but then looking up the manual online found there's a battery on the board. Could the battery be causing this? He doesn't remember seeing a low battery warning but admits he may have never seen it. Is there a sequence for the led lights on the cpu that I can tell him to look for? I'm an hour away from him so I am trying to help remotely, and I'm no expert, still learning how to work with arcades so all opinions are greatly appreciated!!

you have to measure the +5volts dc coming out of the power supply and see where its at
hopefully its a little high and lowering it fixes your problem or maybe it has drifted over time to be 4.4 or whatever and turning it up will get it to work

if it's right on, could be some problem on the game board or another hard drive has bit the dust

hopefully the power supply has crapped out and all it needs is a new one and all the computer stuff is ok good luck

I had one that had a bad fire wire cable. $4 for a new cable and it worked fine.

That could be it but check voltages like others have suggested.

If the big fan on the side of the cage is dead or frozen up,
you may have to write the board off.

Every TC2 I've worked on with a bad fan has blown the board.

That sucks. I want to say he said the fan is running yet but will double check with him. The only life the board is showing is the self check screen at boot up, but it doesn't proceed past that, and isn't showing any errors on that screen, going off what hes telling me.

So drove out to take a look at the guys game. Below is a picture of what is displayed on the monitor when you turn on the game. The top of the screen where it states system23 power on test the numbers to the right of it just keep counting up rapidly. Has any experienced this screen before? I am not familiar with this game at all and just trying to help him out. He did tell me tonight that when he got the game home he had plugged the gun in backwards and when he turned it on nothing came up on the screen then he started to smell something. He powered down and flip the connector around, and the game proceeded to work fine for a month but now this issue has occurred. Power supply is putting out the 5 volts, put a fresh battery on the pcb, bc the one on the board was unknown age. The test switch in the coin box area does not do anything. Thanks for any input!

The game thinks the color palette RAM at location 14F (main PCB) is bad. The RAM or whatever is connected to it (the C404 custom by the looks of it) may need to be replaced, resoldered etc. At least this gives you a place to start looking.

Edit: I could of course be completely wrong but that's what the photo suggests :)
