Upcoming Stern Pins

well I am 40+, and do take the missus out to dinner at the pubs and clubs. If I was to see an ACDC pinny onsite, well she would be sharing my company for sure. Transformers does look a decent pinny, the theme has appeal to us old farts, and the younger adults. WOZ however.......how well is that gonna go down in a pub. Me singing: W'ere off to drink some beers, and what a girly pinball that is.

the people on here are the 1% of the people who spend $$ in games on location.
im speaking as far as the normal joe shmoe public is concerned and what earns as far as pinball.

i already said its not 100% either way, i was and am speaking on majority terms.
the MAJORITY recognizes and will be attracted to something current.

bottom line is- youth drops the most coins in anything coin noperated.

heck, by that theory...lets just make all xbox games and ps3 games reflect pac man and space invaders...lol

time to stay with the times. move on from old genra of music and lifestyles.

new sells, not old...

I think you're only seeing what you want to see. Have you ever heard of Microsoft Arcade? Its an XBox app that lets you build a virtual gameroom, full of all the games you say people don't want to play.

In the last year, there HAS been stuff like Space Invaders Infinity Gene, Galaga 30th Anniversary and Pac Man Championship Edition as well as new Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter games.

Arcade gaming was a youth driven market in the Golden Age, but the people that grew up with gaming haven't abandoned it. If retro stuff didn't sell there wouldn't be dozens of 80's inspired remakes made every year.

Think you"re wrong here. The big market for WOZ will be progressive operators who realize that there is still money to be made on location. This is going to be the most eye-catching pinball ever made. How could you walk by a pinball machine with an actual LCD in the backglass and not pay attention?
Huh? People in their late 30's to late 40's are what is driving the pinball market, thats they reason those are being made.
You didn't used to see limited edition pins at all. These are mostly going into homes and the market you're saying don't even play are exactly who is buying.

I'd love to see the actual split between home and location buyer. I'd bet 80% of the Wizard Of Oz pins go to collectors.

I hope I'm wrong because I'd love to see these in public. I was mainly going by the sheer volume of personal versus op orders I was reading on RGP.

Based upon the description, I would guess that the new music themed pin will be made for "Green Day" or "Linkin Park" or someone like that. Personally, I think that there are only two bands that have been popular in the last 10 years that are worthy. Foo Fighters and Muse. The likelihood that it would be Muse is VERY low, due to the fact that they are not nearly as popular here in the US as they are overseas. BUT, that could also mean that A) the licensing cost may be more reasonable and B) they would have the ability to export LOTS of them to Europe. Daft Punk might even be an interesting choice, given their involvement with the Tron pin, but NOT LIKELY.

As someone else said, please, Please, PLEASE DO NOT make a Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Jay Z, Beyonce, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Jessie J, Jennifer Lopez or Avril Lavigne pinball!!!

In my opinion, the absolute ULTIMATE rock band licensed pinball would be utilizing Pink Floyd. Imagine all of the artwork and music samples to choose from. Having a 3D prism backglass from Dark Side of the Moon would get people's attention, wouldn't it???

Honestly I think a music themed pin would be boring as hell. The rolling stones pin isn't very good in my opinion. I would much rather see a muppets or star wars pin.

I can't think of a band that is big enough that would even work that great. I think Aerosmith or something off the wall like Ozzy Ozborne would be interesting.

How about KISS? I know, another old band that is outdated to most that never liked them, but they have a woldwide following. Look at the old bally version, probably one of the only early ss machines that can still bring more $$$ than a lot of DMD pins.

stern needs to get there heads out of there ass and finally put up a zombie themed pin. literally, needs to be done dammit!!!!

Shawn of the Dead pin FTW. Different modes to collect the main characters or weapons, "Make it to the Winchester" mode, etc. I'd buy one if I could...

not going to be based on a "band".
look at the top selling artists, none of them are bands
bands ended in the early 1990's.
very few cease to exist or make it big except for more non mainstream bands.

crossover hip hop and dance has ruled the music sales and downloads past 14 years.
drum machine, , imac, sequencer...no "bands".

U2 Pinball

U2 is one of the few megabands left. Their last tour was huge. They are egomaniacs and technology guys and would probably like the idea and want to be involved. I think their appeal also hits the demographic that has the extra cash to buy Stern Pinballs. I doubt Stern would want to pay the number they might charge for licensing, but he paid The Stones so who knows.

Slayer would rule. As would a zombie theme, they should be pursuing The Walking Dead since the show and comic are so big right now, but I'd rather see it with the comic's artwork than pixilated photo stills from the show. And Stern could attend all the big comic/gaming/sci fi conventions with a booth with Walking Dead, Tron, Avatar and Transformers. Those conventions like PAX are huge (70,000 attendees) and pinball seems to be the one gaming platform missing (which locals in Seattle will most likely be changing at next year's PAX).

anyone here heard the rumor about a resident evil pin? its circulating around on other forums.
