It night help if you actually re read what you posted, its an absolute mess, it hardly makes any sense. Personally I gave up on the second read.

sorry

can you turn up power on the old power supply , the 110v thats in the cab

then maybe in turn that will increase the 240v feed through the fruit machine psu ?

What is that thing with the 2 green wires soldered to it on the right hands side of the power supply in the picture? looks like an adjustment pot.

hes saying in his country they run 240vac at the wall plug. His dc voltage is only 4.50-4.60 at the edge connector. They suspect this is he issue with the game.

He has an odd looking power supply.(fruity hehe i love it)

Hes wondering if there is a way to adjust it or if you have any ideas as to what may be the issue.

you read my mind. Do they make switchers that run on 240?

quick check of ebay uk version and tada!!

looks like that seller may be your new best friend.

heres a cheaper one but only rated for 110vac/220vac with a flippable switch. I guess i forgot about that, alot of our universal switchers here have that option.

If your wall voltage there is really 240, im not sure if that would take the extra 20vdc or not..

As stated, follow the green wires back, they seem to go where the regulators are likely to be, that is where you should find the adjustment. There is nothing you can adjust at the transformers.

pot or not a pot

many thanks for all your replies .

the thing people think is a adjustment pot with 2 wires going to it and that has been ringed in a photo . it doesnt do anything . neither twist , turn or pull ..

as i thought this may be a adjustment place also

... sorry to confuse at the start of the thread i forget im in the uk , i called it a fruity supply , meaning fruit machine/gambler/slot machine ...

its baffling me .

someone else mentioned i get a switcher . but they mentioned i need to be careful in what im doing and what goes where as could kill the cab as well as myself

thanks

pot

ive twizled that pot as sugessted .. to get from 4.50 summut to 5v

and now im getting 13v and it wont go higher or lower , so i suspect it fuckered

gutted, maybe fior best anyway .

anyone help me further at this juncture

You are getting 13v on the 5V line???? Was the board attached when you were getting 13v?

If it was then I would say that virtually every chip on the game board is now totally destroyed.

Sigh - another classic wrecked.

Phew - but measurements without a board attached are meaningless as there is no load on the power supply, so the volts will go very high.

Turn it right down, attach the board, then turn the volts up until you see 5V at the board.

ahh i see .

anyway reguardless of wether board is on or not not, i think the adjuster doesnt ajust

someone here in the uk , going to put a switcher in cab for me .

so hopefully things sorted

thanks for youy help and comments

Quick question...
If this is a galaxian and what appears to be a complete midway power supply setup, why are you using that other black monstrosity as well?

Why not just tap into the 7v and 12v lines on the midway transformer and wire it the way it was intended to be wired?(assuming the original transformer isn't borked that is...)

the black monstrosity was already in the cabinet when i brought it

. im going to put a switcher in it, well im paying someone too as i dont fancy dying or killing the game

Those two transformers on the bottom in your pics are the original power supply. The transformers rarely go bad, so I was confused as to why someone put a fruit machine power supply in and why you are putting a switcher in if the original power supply is functioning.

If you read through a pac/mspac/galaxian manual you'd understand what voltages your board expects and how it wires up to the original transformer.
As for electrocuting yourself, unplug the game when you work on it and don't touch the anode cup on your monitor and you'll be good :D

As a side note, if you still decide to put in the switcher, you might consider selling the original power supply here or on ebay...lots of people want that particular item to complete their restorations and it's sale would likely pay for your switcher and the work to put it in :)
