Unwarranted Refund

Post the buyers e-bay id so we can all block his ass from our auctions. hehe

The kind of buyer that can't fix their own chassis, is the same kind of buyer that can be a pain in the ass when they screw up the one you sold them.

If you sell on eBay long enough, eventually you'll run into buyers like that. It sucks, but it happens to us all eventually.

You said it.

The kind of buyer that can't fix their own chassis is the kind of buyer who:

SHOULDN'T BE BUYING THE CHASSIS!

STATUS UPDATE:

This is the message I just received from Paypal...

"We've determined that the buyer should receive a $111.98 USD refund if they
ship the merchandise back to you. The merchandise will be in the same
condition as when the buyer received it and the buyer is responsible for
all shipping and handling costs. You should receive the item(s) within the next 10-14 days. Once we have confirmed that the buyer returned the items, we'll process a
refund using funds from your account.

Thank you.

Thanks,

PayPal"

Well, YOU'RE NOT WELCOME Paypal! This is horseshit. This is what's going to happen now, he will get a refund and I'll never get the chassis back. Or, I'll get back a non-working one in place of the one I send him after he blew it up.

"The merchandise will be in the same condition as when the buyer received it "

If you plug it in and it works great. If it doesn't you simply retort. It isn't over with yet.
Buck up lil camper

... we'll process a refund using funds from your account. ...

...Might be a good time to transfer any funds in your PayPal account into another bank account... And consider closing your PayPal account.

Or not. They'd still come after you for it, and that would look suspicious.

But I'd definitely look into divorcing PayPal after this ordeal... That sucks man. But yeah, don't give up the fight just yet.

Call them - I have found if you bitch enough and get a manager, they make things happen. Forget doing anything online to dispute this, it will be automatically ignored.

This is why I don't use Ebay or PayPal anymore. They will go right into your account and take your money because of some scheister. There are people here that will defend them until the end, but one experience like this soured me on the whole thing. Sucks.

I reiterate..post the assclowns e-bay ID so that he will have fewer places to get parts from.

I had something like this happen with some vintage stereo equipment that I sold about 6 years ago. It sucked.

The buyer got a refund of more than he paid and I never got my equipment back. It was packed well, had insurance, and was very lightly used. I figure if something was really wrong with one of the pieces like the buyer said, he would have sent it back. After he got the money I never heard from him or the Ebay moderator again.

If I remember right, there was a moderator from Ebay that liked his side of the story better and I haven't sold anything on there since. From what I've been told by other people, selling is a little better now, but I don't know.

I will buy a few things sometimes, but I'm still bitter about using Ebay to sell anything.

The stories of paypal fucking honest people are legendary. This won't be the first time. as a matter of fact, paypal probably fucked another 50 people yesterday besides you... maybe more.

The guy will

A. return the wrong thing

B. return the board hacked

C. return an empty box

and paypal will give him your money for you. Their comment "the item will be returned in the condition it was received" is comical and represents why they're such a shitty company. How can they possibly know what condition the thing is going to be returned in? Not only are they claiming they know what happens between two people when they're not involved, they're predicting the future, lol. It's just a joke what that company has become.

A 10 feedback loser to boot and they take his side? Unbelievable. Hopefuly someday PayPal will get hit with some huge class action lawsuit since they handle so much money and aren't even a bank. Bastages.

Lets not forget it's the buyer causing the problem- not Paypal.

I do fault Paypal for making refund decisions like this one, since they should function for secure transfer of funds, and nothing else. The only transaction modification I'd allow would be for fraud.

Hey Mike, where in Kansas are you? I am in Wichita.

So let me get this straight - ebay allows you to sell items as-is. You are fully allowed to set your own return and refund policies, including and up to simply not having them.

They also REQUIRE you to accept paypal. Paypal apparently has an unwritten policy of requiring sellers to UNCONDITIONALLY giving full refunds at the BUYER'S discretion.

I think I speak for everyone when I say...W. T. F.

I am seriously pissed for you dude. To top this off, I will almost guarantee the guy will leave you a neg. I really think ebay/paypal should be looked at for antitrust AND class action lawsuits.

As for return shipping, I think paypal needs to require the items to be professionally packed and shipped through UPS - at buyer's expense. That is the only fair way to "guarantee" the seller will get his stuff back in good condition.

It's not over

I have sold well over 1000 things on Ebay and this exact type of situation has happened to me once.

I am by no means defending Paypal, but really it is not any different than a retail store, you are always going to get those kinds of buyers who ignore your return policy and try to game the system.

MY buyer claimed the item was damaged during shipping. Then returned an empty box. When the tracking number showed the return as delivered, Paypal immediately refunded the money.

I, however am not one to go out without a fight - I filed a police report and I tried to file a claim with the USPS and my application was denied - because when she paid for return postage and insurance - The box was empty! So I took that information (with all supporting info from the USPS) back to Paypal and they reversed the money back to me and she was kicked off of Ebay.

So... it's not over until the fat lady sings!

But seriously, if someone can give me a good alternative to Ebay and Paypal, I would like to try it. As it stands, I don't know of one with the same features and broad audience.
