untested Crazy Climber PCB- value?

I payed $200 for a Complete Crazy Climber. I wouldn't go any higher... Seems like you can sell the pcb's more than what you can buy the whole game for.. sometimes.

A working Crazy Climber board used to fetch $200+. Not sure about now... haven't seen one for sale in a while. Untested is a tough one... if the CPU glob is bad then it would be a real hassle to get it going. I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it.

It's my post. I've sold two Untested Crazy Climbers for between $100 and $130. The international scene is pretty good for the popular boards. Trust me when I say that I did not get the board for nothing. Both auctions I won before cost me around 75 or 80. That's why Im trying to get $100 for it to cover my shipping and Bay fees. $90 shipped is the lowest I can do for previously stated reasons.

Why would you buy the boards off eBay and then not test them?!?! Makes people wonder if they are truly "untested"....

Makes you wonder unless you are representing a group. You don't know me so why start with the insinuations. I'm an honest person that is still learning about games. Untested is untested. If you don't want to buy untested then just don't buy it. I've paid premiums before for untested and got burned, but it has also worked the other way around. I have a wall of PCBs behind me, most of which are untested. I buy way too much stuff, and then decide I don't want it and then sell it. I don't even know what's in the pipeline right now. I've attached a couple of pics to put things into perspective. Look at how many projects made it to my playroom. Can you say addictive personality?!

What does "representing a group" mean?
I've got at least twice as many boards as you... and I test every one I bring in. I don't bid on or buy boards I don't need or want (well, one exception is if it's a smokin' good deal I can't resist), as that may be denying someone else who may really need it.
I didn't mean to insult you, but I still just don't understand why someone would buy a high-end board like Crazy Climber and not test it....

Send me an adapter and I would be happy to test it. Some of the boards confuse me as they have connectors on the side and then more connectors on the boards. Understand that I have absolutely no background in electronics, woodwork or anything else needed for this hobby. I am taking things slow (as you can see), so mostly I've been playing around with Jamma boards. I started building a couple of adapters, but my soldering skills leave much to be desired. I'll probably end up buying some from Bob R so I know that they will work.

I wasn't offended, really. Just goofing off. I investigate child abuse for a living, so anything anyone throws at me on the forum is a refreshing change of pace. On a lighter note (not that anyone cares), but I guess I'm taking a road trip to El Paso. Just won three games on auction for a total of $300 (Q Bert, DK, and Asteroids). All need a little work but for me it's worth giving up a day for. Maybe I'll grab some BBQ while Im over there. If anyone needs a game driven from Phoenix or Tucson AZ to El Paso vicinity, then hit me up.

Dude... A working DK for seventy five bucks?! Great deal, even with the minor video issue and missing side art. And a nice Asteroids for $152 is nothing to sneeze at either. Hope the monitor issue is a minor fix.

Twice as many boards and you test every one? For the non-JAMMA boards that you don't already have a harness or game for, how do you do it? Do you create a PCB-in-question to JAMMA for each? How long does it take you to do this? How many of these "non-JAMMA conversions" (for a lack of a better term to call them) do you have wired up at this point? Do you just run voltage to the board and video to the monitor? Or do you test sound and controls too? What do you do about boards where you can't find the pinouts for them?

What do you do if the board you buy was advertised as working but when you test it, it doesn't? Do you do a paypal disputes? If you have that many boards, I would expect you have run across many that were advertised as working but didn't.

If you can test that many boards, would you consider testing boards for others? I'd pay you to test mine. Not troubleshoot, just test to know if it's working or not. Even if you aren't interested in that, can we at least see a list of what you can test? That would be impressive in itself.

I'm in no way flaming you or doubting you, just trying to get a handle on how you do what you say you do. I have bought many boards that I want for games I hope to get or on op raids that they were too good to pass up. With wife, kids, job and other "real life" things, there is no way I have the time to build a test harness for every one. Other than games I already own, I can't test any of my boards (unless they happen to plug into games I own like an Bally MCR board or something).

Hey Joe. Yes, on all counts. I either build, borrow, or wire up a temporary adaptor for everything... controls, audio, everything needed to play. And I have no problem figuring out pinouts on my own... I've done it for many bootleg boards and obscure titles that aren't documented. In fact, the Mayday board I sold/traded to you is one example.

If someone sells me a board as working and I find it doesn't, then I contact the seller and we work something out (typically some price adjustment). If it's a simple fix I often won't even mention it (just make a mental note of the seller's credibility). I buy lots of untested and non-working boards, from both ops and fellow collectors. I fix them in my spare time (which I seem to have less of these days)... keeping some for my collection, and selling/trading others.

I have an open invitation to local collectors who want to come over and test their boards. One simple rule: Bring Beer.
Shipping me boards just to test sounds like it could get rather expensive... even if I didn't charge anything. And just plugging them in and not troubleshooting could be tough for me... I would feel compelled to do a little poking around.
If you want to send me some Crazy Climber boards to test that's cool. I have a couple tested/working CC boards if anyone is interested in buying. $200 each.

Speaking of pinouts, does anyone have the ones for Atari Outlaw or Midway Road Runner? I bought these UNTESTED and would like to see if they work.

I hate how you put up a pic of a empty room, That is a not allowed. :)

It's not empty. Didn't you see the christmas tree on the floor that is stuck together and won't pull apart. It's been lying there in all it's ten feet of glory for about...what month are we in now? I need to focus on one project at a time. Otherwise I will never get any games up there.
