Unofficial PSP Hack Thread (Phat/Slim/3000/Go)

I assume that you can't access PSN unless you keep the fw up to date, right? Are the CFWs good enough these days to allow me to play any UMD game? I do want one for homebrew, but I still want to play some of the PSP games I never got to play. The question is if I'm going to use my old launch PSP for homebrew and just get another one to keep up to date and to use for official shit or not.

You are right sir. Need most up to date firmware to access PSN. Also, you need it to play new games unless you find a patched iso.

Your plan sounds the best. Use your Phat for homebrew and use another one for official.

Right now, my Go is official but can play non-iso homebrew.

The new Go is still a bit too much for my tastes as I don't think I'll play it nearly enough to justify it and most of the good deals here on CL are either scams or too questionable to even be worth making the drive to verify the product. Besides, a Go wouldn't help me with my UMD games I want to play and I'd prefer to use the old 1000 for homebrew anyway due to better hacking abilities.

Around $130 for a new Slim or whichever those are seems okay to me. If I'd planned this better, I would have gotten the black Go on GS's site when they still had them a few weeks back. Oh well - even with two models, I don't think I'll be playing either very much anyway.

No you don't need the latest firmware to access PSN...there's a little plugin called PSNLover you can use, and it will spoof your firmware version to PSN.

FYI, ALL PSP's are fully hackable now that the Kirk keys are out in the wild. You don't even "need" CFW, since you can sign any program yourself now.
I won't get into detail, I can't be bothered as it's all over the place.

Ok, I just picked up a PSP 1001 from a local used game shop. I've been watching CL, but the price was reasonable and I'd like to help out the shop since they just opened a while back and I know how tough that kind of business can be.

It's OFM 5.55 currently, so it's ripe for the hacking! Now I just need to go pick up a Memory Stick.

Not meaning to be Mr. Ironic, but anyone interested in my PSP Go and dock? Both come with original boxes and packaging. System is in great condition. No scratches on screen (has a protector) and only minor wear on the back left gel grip. I'll leave HBL on it plus all of the emulators.

Trying to recoup some spending cash to get a replacement laptop.

Want to break even. 145 shipped for everything.

If you had a black one, you might be able to sell me :p

No. No, I would not :p

Maybe Sharpy.

Not really.

Riddle me this I got a Phat with 5.55 for 50 dollars. I already have a Pandora battery I'm wondering if I need to downgrade to go to cfw or if I can straight to cfw. Cant seem to find a tutorial for this firmware.

I would downgrade a phat, I did both of my kids psp's and it just seemed less complicated to me.

Finally got it modded after ruining two batteries performing a hard mod. Note to others be extra carefull when cutting battery open :). Going to have to fire up popstation and put ff7 on there.

What version of mame were you using there? The version I have the sounds slow donkey kong down so much I wont play it with sound.

I believe it's PSPMAME4ALL. You also need to overclock your PSP to the highest setting (333) in order for it to run relatively well. You can do that in the game settings before you load it.

Thanks for the Great info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was able to get mine modded and working the other night. I have some pretty sweet games for it but I can't stop playing R.B.I Baseball on the NES emulator.
