Unofficial Pi Position Q&A & Support Thread

I get black borders around the screen and I can't adjust it to fit. What do I do?
Put the SD card into a PC, open the /config.txt file, and edit the "overscan" settings
I think the black borders are by design. Apparently these games had a 19" monitor but it was reduced to 17" by the cardboard bezel, and the display was shrunk to fit that size.

The New P4 just arrived today and it is REAL!!! Can't wait to to check it out. I expect it to be a HUGE improvement over the original Pi Position and appreciate the fact that it does not need a Raspberry Pi.
I saw in Jason's video that it has a mini audio jack; do you know if this supplies audio out?

yes but the audio jack on the pcb only outputs stereo like an upright cabinet. when the board is plugged into a cockpit cabinet there are 4 separate audio channels

Make sure you don't have both the sync wires hooked up. there is a disconnect on the purple wiring at the monitor plugs. Then the pic should drop down and be adjustable from the pots
I have the same issue... well a black bar at the top that I can't get rid of. When you say "Make sure you don't have both the sync wires hooked up", I don't totally understand. My sync connector has 2 wires coming from it that are wire nutted together. I need to disconnect the Vsync wire from the connector? Thanks.

I am trying to put other games on my PI Position, but can't figure out all the config file. Looking at the config for Pole Position, it has the coin as "m2: right". How do I set that/ what key is that? Does anyone have the config file settings for Super Sprint or Ivan Stewarts? Thanks.

Nevermind, i found my problem.

Hi there , i have a problem with my pi position …. It was working perfectly in my sit down cabinet. But now i cant do credits at the coin door. Continuity from the micro switches up to the pi position connector - cables are ok…

What could cause that problem ?

Greets

I have a PiPosition (early batch version? with raspberry pi soldered to PCB). Just got around to testing it. Upon boot, a coin is inserted and the game begins normally. The car does not move until the accelerator is touched. Once the accelerator is touched the car starts to accelerate but will immediately stop if the accelerator is continually pressed. By letting off the accelerator fully the car will go into full acceleration. Reversing the on/off (while the game is still running) in the MAME analog control menu will immediately reverse the accelerator and the game will control normally until game end. If a new game is started the car will be in full acceleration mode with no contact on the pedal. Unfortunately, this issue will repeat regardless of saving the settings or rebooting. In other words, reversing the on/off toggle in the analog control menu doesn't fix the issue. I have even tried swapping the red/black wires on the pot, it made no difference.

If anyone has any questions or ideas concerning this issue, please let me know. Thanks!

coin and inputs are read through the usb cable connected between the pi and micro controller. maybe try reseating it

does your pot move 180 degrees? when the pedal is fully pressed?

Here is a video detailing the issue. At the start of the race, I tap the pedal. The car auto accelerates. I go to the analog menu and toggle the reverse. You can see the car immediately stops auto acceleration. I save the analog configuration and reboot. The entire processes starts again.....
